“Cozy place with perfect location”
Reviewed December 7, 2012

Perfect location directly between the bars and nightclubs on Long Street and the restaurants and shops on Kloof Street. Even a cab to the Waterfront was only about R40, which is quite okay.

The place itself had a wonderful cozy common area with a TV to unwind after an exhausting day. The staff did help out with any inquiries I had.

Two older couples (60's) stayed here in January for six days and found it an excellent place, well-located, comfortable, safe and friendly. We occupied two rooms on either side of a bathroom on the ground floor overlooking the courtyard. Each room had access to the bathroom through an interior door, so it was quite convenient.

People sat outside during the afternoons and mornings and there was lots of opportunity to chat and exchange experiences. While we were there a group of Peace Corps volunteers from Namibia were on holiday, and it was informative to get their insights and to discuss their programs.

The Cat and Moose is very well situated, at the top of Long Street, Just around the corner is the Company's Gardens, and we were within waking distance of the major museums and the Memory Crypt at St. George's Cathedral, Bishop Tutu's home church and highly recommended. Going in the other direction, there were many restaurants on Kloof Street, including the excellent and reasonably priced Toni's.

The management was helpful and friendly. They were careful about security. Altogether an excellent experience for a backpacker's lodge,.

Very friendly staff who are really helpful.
I had a nice double room to myself, with shared bathroom which was all fine.
Good location, at the end of Long St so not too noisy but good for lovely places for brunch and nightlife and central for buses etc.

This place is well situated at the end of Long street, plenty of restaurants, bars and supermarkets close by.
The dorms are very basic but quite nice. Very big fridge to store all your food, free coffee and tea. You have to pay for internet though.
The staff are friendly and helpful.
A garden area with table, chairs and sunbed. And a mini swimming pool.
If you catch the My City bus from the airport to city center and then to gardens, it drops you off meters away from the hostel.
