This really is a wonderful B&B. We first stayed here in 2009 and were so impressed that when we recently had the chance to come back to Cape Town it was the obvious choice - and it certainly did not disappoint. Ruth really makes you feel welcome and could not be more helpful. Incidentally, once you have stayed you will not be forgotten - she was able to tell us after an 8 year gap which room we had had in 2009 and whether we had gone for twin beds! And when our flight was delayed and hence we could not make our first evening restaurant booking, she rearranged it for the following night.
Liberty Lodge is very well placed for exploring Cape Town and there is no need for a car - Ruth is there morning and evening to book taxis from a very efficient company which never failed us. And there is a lot reachable by walking.
Beds are very comfortable. There can be some traffic noise from a nearby busy road if you have open windows but this is a minor inconvenience by comparison with all that Liberty Lodge offers.
Breakfasts are excellent and Ruth is very well assisted in running Liberty Lodge by her charming and friendly staff.
The view from the very pleasant first floor balcony is stunning: the central part of the Lion's Head/Signal Hill one way and the Devil's Peak close to Table Mountain the other way.
Ruth knows her Cape Town restaurants well and is very willing to make booking in advance - by far the safest thing to do for the better restaurants. In particular, Miller's Thumb within walking distance can be strongly recommended.

Room Tip: Go for a first floor room.

Stayed 4 nights and very much enjoyed it. High quality accommodation but with a cosy personal touch. Good location for easy access to Table mountain and main routes into the city. Walking distance to good bars and restaurants on Long street in good safety.

Hi Adrian

Many thanks for your review. I do try and make sure that the Lodge has a relaxed, and personal feel - a contrast to impersonal hotels. I am glad you were happy with the location - close to the major sights, and safe walking distance to restaurants and bars.

My best wishes to you both

Ruth

Superb location for seeing the sights of Cape Town and surrounding area. Situated just below Table Mountain you get great views from the lovely terrace.
Rooms very spacious and spotlessly clean. Good quality linen and towels and lovely toiletries in bathroom.
Breakfast excellent and served outside in shaded garden.
The owner, Ruth, has good local knowledge and is always available to help you make the most of your trip.
Lots of very good local restaurants within walking distance which was great when out all day, just dump the car and stroll down Road foe dinner.
Thank you Ruth for a wonderful stay.

Room Tip: We had a room that opened onto the roof terrace which we loved.

Hi Jane! Many thanks for your kind words about the Lodge. I am glad you enjoyed your stay here - and as you rightly say - the location is excellent, not only for sightseeing but also for being able to simply walk down the road for supper. It was lovely to meet you both and I wish you all the very best. Do come back again one day and I will take you on a gin tasting tour!

Best wishes

Ruth

Stayed 7 nights in this peaceful well run B&B with comfortable well appointed rooms with A/C. Warm welcome was had on arrival and very helpful advice and suggestions made by the owner Ruth. We were very grateful that all our taxis and restaurant reservations was also arranged by Ruth. Nothing was too much trouble. Lisa and other staff very kind and provide a great breakfast, cooked to your taste. Free tea and coffee making facilities are at hand at all times as well as a tray of sherry in the lounge. Good views of Table Mountain can be had from the sun terrace arranged with a couple of sun beds, and tables for use of guests. Beach towels are also provided which is a bonus. Good restaurants such as the Black Sheep and La Paradiso are just around the corner but need to be booked during the busy summer season. Safe area to walk even at night and there is safe street parking.

Room Tip: Top floor rooms have direct access to the sun terrace

Hi D and B!

I thought I had written a Management Response earlier but possibly it disappeared into cyberspace! I really enjoyed having you stay here and am so pleased that you were happy with the Lodge and my wonderful staff Lisa and Nita, who make everyone's stay so special. My best wishes to you both - and do come again!
