How often do things come up to expectations when you're travelling? Regardless of the blurb attracting you to somewhere in the first place, the reality is often far from perfect. Well, Blackheath Lodge bucks the trend.
I have visited Cape Town four times in the last five years. On our first visit, we ended up staying at Blackheath Lodge by pure chance. Since that first visit, we wouldn't stay anywhere else and neither would the four couples who have accompanied us during our various visits.
So what's so special about the place? Blackheath Lodge itself is beautiful, with immaculate accomodation and plenty of room to relax - over drinks, in the pool, or both. If your plans are set, they can help with any outstanding arrangements. If you're not sure what to do, they can make recommendations and organise things.
The key differentiating factor is the people. The owners and staff are genuinely friendly and nothing (I really do mean nothing) is too much trouble. When I stay at Blackheath, one of the things I'm looking forward to is seeing everyone again and, in thirty years of business and leisure travel, I can't say that of any other commercial establishment.
Whether you're new to Cape Town or, as we're becoming, old hands, I can't recommend Blackheath highly enough.
I know this review reads like an advertorial but it is genuine. Roll on Jan 2012 and our next visit.

The staff at Blackheath Lodge cannot do enough for you. The Room was very comfortable and with all the added bits of robe, slippers etc. Attention to detail for service is fantastic, much higher than most hotels we have stayed in. The staff go well out of their way to ensure you are well catered for. Jean Claude gets a special mention for being very helpful!

Antony also planned our trip from start to finish and we cant thank him enough for putting together the most amazing trip.
This place is very highly recommended

A very big thank you to Antony, Michele and staff for a wonderful stay once again. After a very busy day spent sightseeing you cannot wait to get back to relax around the peasceful setting of the pool with a long cool drink. All our rooms were spacious with lots of extra special touches to make us feel special.
They also organised a very special self drive tour up the garden route for us arranging all our accomodation and car hire. Many thank, we will be back. Lynn & Colin Perry

Anthony, John and Michelle are wonderful hosts and nothing is a bother to them.
They have a great team, from the kitchen staff who prepare delicious breakfasts served on the sunny deck overlooking the pool to others who keep the Lodge spotlessly clean.
The location is excellent, a 20 minute walk takes you to the V & A Waterfront while the Restaurants and shops of Sea Point are a mere 5 minute walk away. Anthony is always on hand with good Restaurant recommendations and/or suggestions for planning your day.
Don't miss a visit to Blackheath Lodge.

I stayed at this hotel with my friend for 2 nights at the end of our amazing trip around SA, and it was such a treat! Everything is taken care of at Blackheath Lodge, rooms are luxurious and spacious, you have a local mobile phone for use in SA, wifi internet access, Sky TV, slippers and bath robes and the breakfast IS AMAZING....

Antony was so helpful with recommending restaurants he also organised us a hour long massage for our birthdays, from our friends back home.

If you are in Cape Town - stay here!
