Blackheath Lodge is like a gem in Capetown, very close to the sea (5 min. walk), to the Waterfront (20 min. walk). Antony and his staff really take care for their guests whenever needed, help with brilliant tips and make you feel at home. Very clean and boutique-hotel-like guesthouse, with unique interior, nicely renovated bathrooms, very friendly staff, great service, delicious breakfast, an insiders' tip!

We visited Cap Town for four days on a recent trip to Africa and stayed at Blackheath based on Trip Adviser reviews. We where not disappointed. This is a small quint hotel in an excellent location for touring the area. Much is in walking distance.
The staff is friendly and helpful and willing to make changes. Breakfast is excellent with a limited hot breakfast available. The dining area is an old porch over looking the pool and patio area.
I would request rooms in the main building area, we had room 3 which was wonderful, large, and had heated floors and roomy bathroom.
Blackheath is more a B&B style hotel and you should have this in mind when booking.

Room Tip: Book a room in the main house either the ground floor or upper rooms.

My wife, daughter, and I arrived travel-weary from a long plane trip from Taiwan on the 17th of September, and all I can say is that we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our short one day stay at BHL. We were given the "Loft Room" which was marvellous, with stunning sea views, super comfy beds and bed linen, ample pillows, and as mentioned by so many others, the staff are super nice and helpful. Charle and Jean-Claude were so helpful and professional, arranging a taxi pickup to the Waterfront as well as offering excellent advice on what to see and do. One slight criticism is that our shower was not a hot as we'd have liked, especially as we arrived at such during such a cold spell, and that there is no door on our shower room, which allowed cold air in as we were showering, but apart from that I enjoyed it so much that I've reserved another room for the evening prior to my departure (sadly) back to Taiwan.

Room Tip: The Loft Room was fine for us, but for people with mobility issues, a ground floor room would be mor...

Our group stayed here for 4 nights while visiting Cape Town. All 15 of us were blown away. The rooms in this converted Victorian house are super comfortable, comprehensively equipped and stylishly turned out. Our room had wonderful views of the sea and Signal Hill. Breakfast was exceptional. The lodge is just 15 minutes by taxi from the city centre and 10min from the Waterfront. But the real differentiator is the host - Antony is very welcoming and caring, was available whenever we were there, very willing to provide help and advice on any subject. This place is unreservedly recommended.

Room Tip: Try the stunning loft - what views...

The outstanding feature for me at Blackheath Lodge was the attention to detail in order to make our stay so smooth and special. Excellent, personal and friendly service, beautiful interior design features and a range of lovely spaces to sit and relax - features not found in many hotels. My lovely room was always freshly made up and welcomed me back after a busy day of sightseeing. It adjoined a sitting room with books, artwork and even a complimentary port ! There is also a kitchen area where we could help ourselves to tea, coffee or drinks (honour system). Breakfast caters to all needs and is fresh with eggs or pancakes to order. I will have no hesitation in recommending Antony and his staff at the lovely Blackheath Lodge to all I know who are planning to visit Cape Town

Wonderful boutique hotel 45 minutes walk along the sea front from Cape Town centre. Special mention to Charle who was a wonderful host. Great breakfasts with complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits served all day.

My experience at Blackheath Lodge was wonderful. The rooms are comfortable and lovely, the common areas are cozy and welcoming, the staff is caring and friendly and very good at their jobs, and the breakfast is great. Antony and all the staff make you feel as if you are in the home of a good friend. In particular, the loft suite, with its large terrace and views of the sea, was spectacular. Cape Town is great, but I must admit, it will be the thought of another stay at Blackheath Lodge that will make me want to get on that long plane ride to visit again.
