Mountain Magic Garden Suites

We stayed in Mountain Magic Garden Suites in mid November 2012 for a week. We very much appreciated that Nui arrenged a taxi pick up for us at the airport - always useful when one arrives to any place for the first time. The appartment was very nice, clean, you can get a wifi connection (for a little money) that helped us to plan daily trips during our stay. And the appartment was cleaned every weekday which is not always the case for selfcatering appartments.

We stayed at Mountain Magic Garden Suites for 6 nights and it proved an ideal location for seeing Cape Town and the Cape peninsula. We stayed in the Bay Lights apartment which was pleasant and comfortable and we had great views across Table Bay from our balcony. It was a quiet residential area which we enjoyed after our hectic days of sightseeing. Excellent location for Table Mountain and visiting the wonderful Kirstenbosch botanical gardens. Easy walk into the city centre to see the sights if you didn't want to take a car. The owners were friendly and helpful and the apartment well maintained by the staff.

We are a family of four (with 2 young kids aged 5 and 8) that visited Cape Town in the middle of winter (July). The weather was clear and crisp and we had a great time visiting the V&A Waterfront, the 2 Oceans aquarium, Bo-Kaap, Table Mountain and doing the sightseeing bus tour during our 4 days there. We stayed at the Mountain Magic suites in Tamboerskloof and we are highly recommending it to everyone.

First of all the location at the foot of the impressive Table Mountain is ideal for the stunning view, access to the cable car and the short drive straight down to the V&A Waterfront. Secondly Kon and Nui have a first-rate knowledge of the area and were always on hand to guide us and give us recommendations for restaurants and itineraries. Furthermore when we were leaving, to drive around the Cape and continue on our journey, Kon gave us some great advice on places to stop and things to see. We just got the impression that they love the area and that they wanted us to have a great time in Cape Town.

The accommodation was spacious, well-equipped and very comfortable with under-floor heating, a good shower and breakfast goodies, for guests visiting in the summer there is also a lovely looking pool and garden area. The apartment was cleaned everyday by the friendly staff and everything was clean and comfortable. We highly recommend Mountain Magic Suites, it was the perfect way to start our holiday in South Africa, because of the location and the accommodation but also thanks to the generosity and kindness of the hosts.

WOnderful place. good price, lots of space, great location. All around, it is great, We stayed here while house hunting with our small family- we made a good choice on staying here instead of some hotel. Had everything we needed. THe only thing i would have changed is that i wish it were closer to restaurants but everyone delivers in Cape TOwn, so it wasn't a hastle. lovely place. I regularly recommend it to my friends

I spent three nights here with my wife last December and it was hands down our favorite place we stayed during our month long trip around the south of Africa. The property is very nice, the neighborhood is just as advertised. The views of Table Mountain are just as good or better than the best pictures, and Kon and Nui really go out of their way to help you enjoy your stay and feel at home.

I'm always befuddled when I read people on sites like this quibbling about things like the size of a TV or the color of the paint at such an exceptionally nice, value-priced establishment like this. The Mountain Magic Suites are clearly advertised as "self catering". Since our suite was advertised as self catering I did not expect the same type of services one might receive in a 5 star hotel at ten times the price, such as maid service, a jumbo-tron flat screen TV, complimentary toiletries etc. To my surprise though, the management DID provide towels and fresh linens, daily maid service, toiletries and they even STOCKED THE FRIDGE with some basic breakfast and snack items plus tea and coffee! My expectations were exceeded at every turn. For the record, I travel for a living, log at least 150 nights a year in hotels, I have visited 40 plus countries on every continent and I am a picky and critical traveler/person.

This place is great, book it if you are lucky enough to get the chance.

We stayed for a week, very pleasant owners who went out of their way to make us feel welcome - including providing breakfast for our first morning. The location is great and in good weather I am sure the views are breathtaking. The place was spotlessly clean but in need of a paint.
However the suite was limited - particularly trying to cook for 2 small kids on a basic 2 ring hob - no grill or oven. The layout of the suites (pretty much all one big room with wardrobe partition) also did not really work for us - once the kids were asleep we kind of had to go to sleep too!
And yes, the smallest TV in the planet.
I think this accommodation is great for those who can get out and about every evening, but not ideal for those with a very young family like us.

It is always a disappointment when guests are disappointed. That's why we describe the suite and the facilities in every detail on the booking sites. We do not plan to install grills or ovens in the kitchenettes, because most guests do not cook huge meals in the suites regularly, it is not how they were designed. We find the electric frying pan, 2 ring hob, microwave and toaster works well for the majority.

Regarding the layout of the suite, bear in mind that you booked the suite described on the marketing site as "semi open-plan," which is exactly what it is. Our Mountain Magic Suite, occupied at the time of your stay, has 2 bedrooms, and is a much better lay-out for families with small children who scream a lot. I disagree that we are not an establishment suited to families, as a matter of fact, about half of our visitors travel with children. That is why we do not charge for children under 9, and also have 2 cots available, one of which you utilised (free of charge).
