This hotel is located within easy walking distance of the centre of Cape Town (about 15 minutes) and is surrounded by good quality restaurants. Whilst it is not the most attractive hotel in Cape Town it offers clean and comfortable rooms at reasonable price. The staff are friendly were and extremely helpful. The included breakfast was good. I stayed for 3 nights and found it good value for money and would certainly stay again.

Room Tip: Try for a room at the back and up high. Views of Table Top Mountain are vailanle from windows and i...

This hotel was a bit run down, in need of modernising, very basic and just about acceptbly clean. We stayed here for 2 nights at the beginning of our trip on an organised tour and another night at the end of the trip. On our return visit the door on my room looked like it had been kicked in at some point and the yale lock was not secure. I did not feel confident leaving anything of any value in my room. On each visit I had a room at the back of the hotel where it was relatively quiet and you could see Table Mountian from the window. The cooked breakfast each morning was cold (even though you had to order it). Having said that, the bed was comfortable and the linen clean and I had a good night's sleep. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the new manageress (Lynne) was very helpful when a member of our group lost here purse. The hotel is about 10 minutes by taxi from the waterfront and within walking distance of some bars and restaurants.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back, it's quieter

I stayed here for two nights and all I can say was it was a step up from a hostel, just. Breakfast was adequate. Rooms were very shabby and front rooms very noisy all night. Could have been a lot cleaner. And the rooms were hot with fans that didn't really fan. Shower was fixed to wall over bath but you couldn't shower like that without drowning bathroom. The linen was clean. And staff were very helpful. New manager Lynne was an absolute star when a member of our party lost her purse. She could not have done more and hopefully she will drive change in this hotel. About 10 mins by cab to waterfront but shops and restaurants very close by. Would rather camp than stay here again. Sorry Lynne, ( you were awesome!!!)

Location, location, location! Rooms are basic, third floor is like a hostel. But in this town you're not supossed to spend time in your room, but to enjoy the city. Kloofstreet is buzzing with lots of cafés and restaurants, shops and supermarkets. It's a stonesthrow from Longstreet so it will save you on taxi's. Staff is friendly and helpfull. Laundryservice is availlable.

Rooms at the back have mountainview, which is stunning.

I stayed a week in Saasveld Lodge: basic hotel, no luxuries but everything you need is there and indeed looking from my window I saw the Table mountain. But what was for me the most important: a very nice staff, helpful and so, so nice! I felt very much at home and the location is perfect: in Kloof street and in a walk of 10 minutes you are in Long street, where the atmospere is fantastic!

Room Tip: At the back of the hotel you see the table mountain!

Before I start I want to mention that I have been staying in backpack lodges and camp sites for over 3 months. This is the first ensuite and so the first luxorious place i go to on my trip, so my standards are low.

Even after taking that in mind, this place is an absolute miss; the staff don't help you, the building is being painted so we could not even go to our room, the internet is very expensive, the room is tiny, the tv has 1 working channel, the shower is horrible; brown water without pressure with a temperature which is more or less determined by the shower itself. Did i already say that it smells like puke in this building?

All in all stuff i can live with, but paying €70,- a night for this is just wayy overpriced seeing that longstreet offfers way cheaper accomodations.

I stayed here at the end of a tour for 4 nights and found it fantastic value for money. Rooms are basic but very clean. It is situated close to sights and restaurants. I had a room facing the back which looked straight up onto Table Mountain so just had to open the blinds to see if the top of the mountain was visible! Staff were friendly and I would not hesitate recommending people stay there.

Room Tip: Go for a room on level 1 (as there is no lift) at the back away from the street. Quiet and a view of...
