Owner description: The Springbok Experience was nominated for the International Award in the 2014 Museum + Heritage Awards in the UK after opening on SA's Heritage Day in September 2013. It is a world-class, modern interactive museum telling South Africa’s story through the eyes of its most powerful sport. It's a fun and entertaining experience for the whole family and is a ‘must-do’ attraction at the heart of the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. The museum features more than 60 audiovisual displays where visitors can watch the history of South African rugby unfold, set among cases displaying historic objects such as famous trophies, jerseys, boots and other memorabilia. It makes a perfect venue for exclusive corporate events as well. And there are games for children and adults alike where they can test their kicking, passing, fitness and reaction skills in the interactive ‘Springbok Trials’ games zone. There’s also a flagship Springbok Concept Store for those who just want to shop. The Springbok Experience is a museum – but much more than that.If you’re wondering what to do in Cape Town, you must visit the Springbok Experience.

Great interactive museum as well as telling the Springbok story in detail and very enjoyable for kids, whether rugby fans or not

Well documented and interesting layout. A must for anyone who has the slightest interest in rugby. Allow yourself at least 2 hours to absorb the journey

Hi Jacqui D, great to have visitors who really get 'into' the Museum content and are with us for hours. As you're in Cape Town, we hope to see you back again to peel back some more layers of content.

You can learn about the rugby team, and how their courage helps the country to be together. Is a beautiful part of South African history.

Dear Justo05, fantastic to have a visitor from Colombia sharing their experience of the Experience. And we love that you found it beautiful part of South African history. We think it tells the powerful SA story in a very compelling way - but we're biased.

I like rugby, my husband loves rugby, and we both thought it was a great museum. There are several interactive games downstairs which are good fun. The museum upstairs was bright and interesting, especially the parts during the apartheid years. The film at the end rounded things off nicely. The nest bit? the fact that your ticket gets you a free beer down in the V&A!!

Dear hsmith3001, the free beer is something most museums don't offer we reckon - and glad you enjoyed that and the Experience itself - definitely enough going on here to work up a thirst. Thank you for the review.

The 'Springbok Experience' appears to be a new-ish attraction on top of a car park, near the 'big-wheel' on the V&A Waterfront area. It concentrates on the SA national team, but provides an interesting background to the team, and how it has developed over the years, including the anti-apartheid banned period.
A bit of fun - you can have a photo taken of your face, and it is then digitally inserted on one of a series of photos, as if you were the player! You can then take a picture of the picture with your own camera. Clever!
