We arrived at Abbey Manor after nearly 24 hours of travel and lost luggage near midnight. The next morning the staff was superb serving hot and cold breakfast. Judy manages the manor and she goes above and beyond with each guest. She drew maps and made suggestions for Cape Town's must see as well as making sure we had the phone number to a preferred taxi company. She spent all day on the phone with British Air trying to track down our lost bag. Something that was both impressive as well as above and beyond. Even offering to loan us a jacket while we were here. The rooms are tasteful and cozy, with a large modern bathroom. It's about a 30 minute walk to downtown area but certainly quite doable and pleasant. The view of Table Mtn is spectacular. Our room had a lovely balcony with Table Mtn again in full view.
We thank them for their gracious service and highly highly recommend.

Abbey Manor was fabulous!!! Judy and Dee were so warm, friendly, welcoming, and just took good care of us. They told us what to do and what not to do. They gave us some helpful safety tips for touring Cape Town. Bed was very comfortable, breakfast was super delicious, and views were breathtaking. We highly recommend Abbey Manor and would love to stay there ourselves again!

We stayed at Abbey Manor for 3 nights in August, and could not have been happier with our room, the location (ideal!), the views, and of course - Judith & Dee, who are fabulous hostesses. We arrived in cape town without firm plans and Judith/ Dee set us up to do / see as much as possible (which was our goal) in our short stay. They went above & beyond to make sure we had a dinner destination and reservation AND a means to get there. Accommodations are luxurious and breakfast was delicious. I highly recommend Abbey Manor.

Abbey manor
This was the second time we'd been lucky to spend a few days in abbey manor, the first time 3 years ago, and the standard of accommodation remains consistently high.

The first point to mention with abbey is that the location is excellent - you are perched at the foot of table mountain so views are excellent both toward the mountain and toward the city. Also its an easy (and safe) stroll into the city centre during the day which takes about 20 minutes.

The rooms are impeccably fitted, easily matching a good hotel standard, and the breakfasts are excellent (the French toast with maple syrup was our favourite!) There are no evening meals offered by the guesthouse itself, but there is an excellent deli about 100 yards down the street which offers hot, cold, and microwaveable food if you fancy staying in.

The real star though is Judi, the manager of the guesthouse - she wears her enthusiasm for the city on her sleeve, and it's impossible not to be swept away with her as she will make sure you see the finest attractions this fine city has to offer. This is a five star b&b in every sense!

We love Abbey Manor.......lovely rooms, lovely staff, perfect location, great breakfasts! Judi is a perfect hostess with the mostest.......full of useful local info and she really goes that one step further in terms of excellent hospitality. She even bought us a bottle of red wine she had mentioned and thought we would like.......!

You can easily go out at night using Intercab taxis.......quick safe and easy to use. We went to Bombay Bicycle Club one night and Robertos on Long St another. You do need a car during the day as Abbey Manor is a guesthouse as opposed to a hotel where there are lots of facilities to use during the day.........but you're in Cape Town......so much to see!

We will be back again in a couple of years!

Room Tip: Devils Peak Room is just lovely!

The B&B or guesthouse as the name reflects was a highlight of our stay in Capetown. Booked actually by the Sth African Travel Agent that arranged all our African Package highly recommended this Guesthouse over a regular waterfront hotel & now we understand why. Judy is a great hostess, assisted us in making a few online booking for tickets & assisting in arranging a hirecar for us also. The breakfasts are fit for royality, & plenty to choose from, not the same boring buffet selection as one gets in some hotels. We had the attic top level room with its seperate antique style bath which in our case never got used given were a couple of middle aged ladies (aunt & neice)from Australia. However is the perfect room for a honeymoon couple, again the closeness of single beds not ideal for us but set as king perfectly suit couple. Is also a seperate sitting room on this same level with one other bedroom adjoining. This other bedroom was occupied for last 2 nights of our stay but no noise. Bathroom a tad small & no where for toiletteries had to setup on dresser in bed room, being 2 women travellers didnt help though :)
I can highly recommend anyone coming to Capetown this lovely heritage home near base of tablemountain over the larger waterfront hotels. Thank you Judy, if either of us get back to Capetown will need not to look further.

Born - both of us - in Europe, and living in Asia, it was never going to be simple getting married in Cape Town. However, the amazingly helpful Dee and Judi at Abbey Manor made us feel right at home, as well as helping field the numerous phone calls coming in from friends worldwide, and officials down the road. The complimentary champagne put us in good cheer, though, and was enjoyed in the bathtub with a vista to die for.
Abbey Manor is a magnificent building, and it´s location at the base of Table Mountain - with sparkling nightime views across Cape Town below - simply magical. Breakfasts were hearty and varied; the on-call taxi service reasonable and reliable, and the local knowledge of the staff unbeatable.
Carlucci´s, a deli-cafe within walking distance of the hotel, is a definate plus both as a meeting point and kick-off for the many daytrips you´ll want to make out of Cape Town proper, and also as a caffeine-injection point before any stag night bar crawling.
We unreservedly recommend Abbey Manor and hope to stay there again, one of these years, come the Anniversary.
