“A must for Bird and Nature fans”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

This is a place to see birds like no other. The aviaries are huge and you walk amongst many of the birds, including owls, raptors, ducks, parrots, swans - you name it. I have never been so close to such creatures and it was spectacular. Many birds are caged but in good health and order.

This is a MUST for anyone who is fond of birds.

They also have various monkey, mammel and reptile exhibits. There is a monkey exhibit where small harmless monkeys climb all over you. Lots of fun.

Warning: It is organic. You will walk around some bird guano, mud if its been raining and an occasional mouse or various insects. This is not a place for people who do not appreciate the organic nature of the animal kingdom or who like things in sterile order. You are in and amongst them in aviaries and displays that are rough by typical zoo standards. This added to the enjoyment.

Warning II: Not a great place for children or even adults who are mischievious or ill mannered (typical US types). For example, when you enter the owl aviary, there is a warning sign to do so at your own risk. These raptors are powerful and can attack if provoked. Unlike the US, it is clear there are no lawyers "protecting" those that do not heed these warnings. A place that demands respect of the visitors towards these magnificent creatures.

“Worthwhile for all age groups”

Living in Hout Bay during the Northern winter months & enjoying Cape Towns summer means that we often have visitors if they have any inclination towards animals we always suggest a visit to World of Birds. It is well stocked & there is definitely something for all the family whether a toddler or ornithologist!
