We loved our hike on Lion's Head, it starts as an easy trail winding around the mountain with lots of birds to spot and great views. It then becomes a bit more difficult, there are two routes, one using chains and ladders up and a slightly longer, flatter route. The top is flat also so you can sit and take in the spectacular vista. It is a challenging hike at times so good footwear would be advisable but even if you only do the walking trail at the start you'll have a great time.

its a short hike up lions head (not hard at all) takes about 1.5 hrs for someone of reasonable fitness. awesome 360 views of cape town and camps bay from the top, just bring some water and perhaps a banana and of course your camera

If your health & travel plans permit, then climb the Lion's Head Mountain...it is a much more satisfying experience than taking a cable car to the top of Table Mountain. The views are comanding either way, but the satisfaction is so much greater when you reach the top of Lion's Head on your two feet.

Make sure you have water (lots of it) and maybe a picnic-type celebretory lunch/dinner for after your climb. You will surely want to sit back and capture the moment.

Start in the parking lot, and go up either left or right around the mountain. Almost at the top, one can chose to go up chains, or to walk around. I reccomend to do this trip by full moon, to see the sun go down, and walk down in the light of the moon.

A wonderful experience to celebrate a birthday. Strenuous walk but definitely worth the effort. It's a lot more difficult than most people expect. There should be warnings at the car park and re moment rations to take water, warm jacket, good shoes and espe I ally a torch. Many if not most people were underprepared and did not realise the extent or difficulty of the hike. An information board giving details and expected duration and risks should be clearly visible. .
