“A great view if the city”

Good for a sunset trip, it's like going up the Rockefeller in New York, because you can vie the Empire State, this is true of viewing Table Mountain

“great day out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 20, 2013

This is one of the things to do in Cape Town. The whole family climbed Lions Head including my 4 year old.Near the top it became a little stressful for my wife and son so they stayed behind and took in the great view.It was a Sunday so lots of people on the climb,we felt safe all the time and we had a police car on patrol on the road.We did however notice a guy walking past cars and checking to see if the doors were unlocked.so becareful on quite days and do not take valueables a long.

“Full Moon Hike”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 15, 2013

I hiked up Lion's Head about an hour before sunset on the night of a full moon. I should have started earlier, it was such a large crowd so there were queues at many points along the way. The first half of the hike is easy and straight forward. Those who doubt their ability or are afraid of heights can stop here and still have amazing views of the sunset and sights below. The majority of the remaining hike is challenging, not always marked, and frequently on a narrow trail with an unprotected drop on one side. This being said, there are young children hiking the trail, it is not dangerous but you must be careful. It took just over an hour to reach the top, where many others were laying around and watching the moon rise. The views from the top are amazing and totally worth the hike up. The climb back down was a bit tricky because I didn't bring a torch and had run out of water. I would definitely recommend bringing a torch, and more than one small bottle of water.

“A bit of imagination and you see a lion”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 15, 2013

It's another landmark you cannot miss. The nature is beautiful. The walk takes about 90 minutes to reach the top. Carry enough water when walking
