Couldn't go to the top of Table Mount coz of bad weather, but the views from the top of Lion's Hear are mesmerizing and the 1.5 hour hike to the top seemed worth it!!

Friends took my husband up Lion's Head one evening in the summer. He loved it, but be warned: It's not for the unfit, or the faint-hearted.

There were sections where chains had to be used to clamber up the rocks near the top, and there were a few rather narrow areas to navigate.

My husband was amazed to find some teenagers walking barefoot up the mountain, despite the scorpions (he saw a large one) and snakes in the area!

Make sure you don't ever walk alone on the mountain. Always, always remain with a group for safety.

We started hiking at around 9 in the morning. After about fifteen minutes the hike narrowed and we started going upward more steeply- but at least we were in the shade. In an hour and a half, we reached the top. We were soaked with sweat as it was the middle of summer, but thankfully we had water, cookies, and grapes to snack on at the top. My brother and I took the more fun way- the way up the rock with chains and handles that you "use at own risk"- both up and down. Our parents took the much longer way and we had to wait at least ten minutes for them to catch up. The views (on a clear day, of course) of Table Mountain, Table Bay, Robben Island, and Cape Town are breathtaking. So are the two ladders that are necessary to get to the top. Don't go up wearing a skirt and sandals and expect to be done in an hour. Not like I did that, but I saw someone else. She was not smiling.

If you reasonably fit, this is something that you have to do.
Its gets really busy, but I can see why.

Easy to climb and safe - that offers the most spectacular 360 Deg views of the city, from Clifton and camps bay beaches, the city below you, sea point, and the waterfront.

Some parks are a bit tricky to climb up, so just be careful.
Very popular in the late afternoon (for the awesome sun sets)!

They hike is a little bit hard not everybody can do it. And the way back was really hard when it was dark without a flashlight. But the view on top of the mountain is amazing, especially when its full moon.
