“another planet”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 11, 2013

We did this as part of a private city tour. Our guide informed us that about 50% of her clients are able to go to the top, due to high winds and visibility issues. So, we lucked out. The ride up to the top is fantastic. I would highly recommend doing this as a full day excursion. We only had an hour to explore the top. Not long enough to hike the many and long trails- plan to do some walking. It is well worth it! It is quite chilly and extremely windy so I would wear long pants and bring a light jacket. Our guide advised us of this and she was right! We saw tourists walking around in shorts and high heels!! Unbelievable! No doubt they were cold.
The flora and fauna are spectacular and very unique- please be respective of them and stay on the trails. It was appalling to see how many tourists ignore the regulations.
We didn't have time to explore the cafe-would have been nice to before descending. The cable car is fast going up and going down. The longest part is waiting in line to go up.
This is a must see while in Capetown.

“A must do in Cape Town”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 11, 2013

I'm told that the queues are normally long - we were very fortunate to arrive just as the cable car ride opened, having been shut all day because of high winds. The car revolves as you go up which means that everyone gets the view down to the city. The view from the top is breathtaking and if you can stay for the evening sunset, do so

“Overpriced, but the only real way to get to the top...”

The cable car itself wasn´t anything special and was quite overpriced, but the view from the top of table mountain is beautiful

“Gives you a lift”

A good way to get up the mountain. It feels safe and is comfortable and as it revolves the views are great. It looks slow but as the other car passes you can see they move pretty fast

“A Must for Cape Town Visits!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 7, 2013

The top of Cable Mountain is one of the highlights of Cape Town. The views are spectacular! There are lots of food options at the top to enjoy the evening sunset. Wines by the glass and cheese, along with really good custom made sandwiches.

The walking trails are many and easy for elderly visitors. The views on the other side of Table Mountain are just as spectacular as the Cape Town side. We chose to use the cable cars, as the walking trail looked a bit tough even for the downhill climb.
