“Good museum visit if you have enough time”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 21, 2013

Museum is good although not as well presented the District Six or Jewish Museums. Given the diversity of slaves brought into the Cape a missed opportunity to present a richer history of Cape Town through the lives and cultures of the slave population/cultures brought to the area. If you have limited time prioritize other museums.

The slave lodge was a real surprise.
Provides an excellent summary of slavery in South Africa and why it is important to revisit this part of history.
There is so much to see in this museum.
Well worth the entrance fee.

“The history of S. Africa”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 25, 2013

No visit to Cape Town is possibly complete without understanding the history of the place and apartheid. Though the country today is not proud of this aspect of its past, they have recreated the history of the slave trade and apartheid in this museum. Do not miss the audio-visual shows.
I'd also recommend you visit Church Square a few hundred meteres away and see the slave tree place.
