Read reviews about the Crypt before we left the states. Sounded like a place we would enjoy and in a safe atmosphere. We made reservations before we left the states.
We were given a table on the side of the stage, since I had made reservations so far in advance, I wasn’t happy about this. I ordered the chicken curry, which was plentiful and for curry wasn’t bad. Two young ladies from NYC who were seated at our table ordered hamburgers which looked amazing. I usually don’t order hamburger when I am out of the
country. I try to experience local cuisine. The Jazz and atmosphere were good.
On our second visit, it was on Heritage day (September 24th). We did not have reservations. Standing room was full. People were sitting on the entry steps. We were out of luck.
Our third visit, we were able to get a seat with no reservation. It was a center stage table. We had had dinner, so we only had drinks and appetizers. Music and conversation with other guest were good.
If you are unsure about where to go for decent food and good Jazz while visiting Cape Town, check out the Crypt.
