We stayed at Lezard Blue end December 2011 (on New Year!) and we can only be positive about our stay. Lezard is like a second home, but really a second home. You never get the feeling you're somewhere else. Nikki and Chris are just fabulous. So friendly, always up for a joke, a talk, a drink! It would be a disgrace to not mention Lizzie who takes care of everything (breakfast, help, rooms...) and the lovely son (our music specialist).

If you're searching a quiet B&B and have the tendancy to be on your own and don't like to go up in your second family, then Lezard Blue is not the place for you. If you're a social minded person who likes to make new contacts, then Lezeard is the place to be.

What about the rooms? We had the corner room and we loved it. It was more then spacious enough, bathroom was clean, tidy, fully operational. Bed was perfect. On request we were provided with European plugs also.

The breakfast is one of the best we've had in whole South Africa, WOW. Getting up is a pleasure if you know such breakfast is waiting on you.

To conclude: Thanks a lot Nikki, Chris... it was a lovely time.

PS: We did drop off the small elephant at Kings Walden (Tzaneen) who also knew your friend. The restaurant of your friend was closed unfortunately.

If you want an impersonal luxury hotel, this is not for you. If you want to feel like you are coming home after a long day of exploration, this is your place. There is usually some nice African or jazz music playing in the background, local artwork, and if it is cool outside maybe a fire in the fireplace. There is a refrigerator in the main area with cold water and wine/beer/soft drinks (honor system). If you are visiting during hot weather, there is a nice garden area with pool. The hosts and incredible staff (Lizzie) provide any assistance or advice you wish. From suggesting a route to making reservations at restaurants, they are fabulous. When we wanted to take wine and a light dinner (Carlucci's deli is just one block away) to Signal Hill for sunset, Lizzie found us a cooler and ice packs. The breakfast included with the room is the most extensive we experienced including fresh juices, fruit, meats, cheeses, breads, jams, yougurt, cereals and your choice of eggs and coffee or tea. The neighborhood is very nice and quiet at night. You can walk into town and catch a bus in about 30 minutes but there is so much to see in the surrounding area, I would suggest renting a car. We stayed in the Aloe room and really loved it including the private patio with a view of Table Mountain. The room and the bathroom are modern and comfortable. We did spend our first night downstairs in the Jungle room and though acceptable, I would not suggest the downstairs rooms as they are a bit dark and the bathroom small. I am posting some pictures so take a look and if you are going to Cape Town, Lezard Bleu is a great place to stay.

Room Tip: Go for one of the upstairs rooms or the tree house rather than the two lower rooms.

Absolutely fantastic, in fact this is without doubt the best guest house my wife and I have ever stayed in. Above everything is the wonderful hospitality of hosts Chris and Nikki, they make you feel so welcome and are always there to answer questions. On our first evening they arranged a taxi down to the waterfront for us and served us two glasses of wine each while we waited . We stayed in the Tree House which is rather special. On the one side you have a panoramic view of Lions Head, Signal Hill and central Cape Town, and on the other, as you walk down the ramp to breakfast each day, you have a stunning view up to Devils Peak and Table Mountain. The room itself is spacious, spotless and very homely, and of course surrounded by palm trees. And then there is the breakfast. My wife is vegetarian and I am vegan but that presented no problem at all. In addition to the cereals, fruit juices, great selection of fresh fruit, cheeses, bread, yoghurts, etc on offer, Chris and Nikki went out of their way to purchase different vegan friendly spreads, cheese, etc and were genuinely interested in what I thought of them. Thank you both so much. Last but not least are the wonderful staff that are always so friendly and chatty. Apologies for not remembering all of your names but thanks to Lizzie and all of you. We could go on and on but won't, we will simply stay again if ever we return to Cape Town. One last point, we very rarely write reviews but felt compelled to give this justly deserved feedback on this occasion. To all at Lezard Bleu thanks for making our stay in Cape Town so memorable.

Room Tip: If you can go for the Tree House, you will not regret it, spotless, spacious and amazing views (see...

I always stay here when I come to cape town, and never regretted :-). The owners make you feel like being part of the family. They are always there to help, ask, organise our just chat. This very much helped me overcome the occasional insecurity I felt travelling south Africa alone!
Great location, too: close to long street, but enough up hill for me to feel save walking around, and for a marvelous view over the harbour (book the tree house room if you can...) and up table mountain. Oh, and a breakfast to die for...
Not, however, recommended for people with fear or allergy of dogs. There are several, all very friendly and made me feel very safe at night, but if dogs are an issue, consider staying elsewhere :-).

After a long travel experience Lezard Bleu is one of the best guest houses I have stayed at or maybe THE best. Why? The hosts, Nicky and Chris, give you a very warm welcome and a comfy feeling in a jiffy. They will answer every question, no matter how difficult. They have a sense for the guest´s needs. They will recommend the best restaurant according to your taste and make all the necessary arrangements. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the tree house offers a beautiful view over Cape Town. The location is perfect. It enables you to be first on top of the Table Mountain and it is only 5 minutes to the city center by car. The place is very quiet and surrounded by trees and hidden pieces of art. The breakfast is great offering fresh fruit and vegetable, a great assortment of cheese and sausages , yoghurt , jam, fresh bread, eggs made to order... just all you can think of. The staff is very friendly and your clothes are washed in a blink of an eye. I have been accomodated there twice - and when I will visit Cape Town again I am going to stay at Lezard Bleu.

Room Tip: The tree house is very nice.

We were there in June for the first few days of our honeymoon and it was the perfect place to experience our first taste of South Africa. We arrived, very weary, off the red-eye from London and were warmly invited by our hosts to join them for breakfast – which was delicious and made us feel so much better!

The guest house is in a lovely safe location at the foot of Table Mountain, not far from the cable car station, with easy access to the city centre. And it is only a ten minute drive away from Camps Bay – the perfect place to watch the sunset. The house is decorated in strong, bright colours, with lots of local art – a real feast for the eyes! Guests have easy access to the internet and television in their own lounge, and there is a plentiful supply of books about Africa to browse through. The gardens are full of quirky sculpture and exotic plants and it is great to just wander around. In fact the whole place is such a pleasure that is very tempting to just stay at home instead of going out to explore the many attractions of Cape Town!

Chris and Nikki are helpful and knowledgeable and from them we learnt a valuable lesson right from day one: Don’t always rely on the guide books but ask your hosts where to eat. Their advice was always excellent and there are some amazingly good restaurants very nearby. (Specially The Café Paradiso).

The lovely Lizzy made us feel instantly at home and nothing was too much trouble. In fact everyone was warm and welcoming - but then so was everything about Lezard Bleu – whether the doors were wide open letting the winter sun flood in, or whether they were closed and there was a roaring fire in the grate.

We will always remember Lezard Bleu with great affection and happy memories. Also, with lots of gratitude to Chris - for planning the extras!

Room Tip: Go for the Tree House if you possibly can. Though the Corner Room which we had was great.
