My wife and I stayed here for three nights at the very start of our 17-day visit to South Africa. An African Villa is an incredible value and an exceptional "home" away from home. We were greeted with an attitude of friendliness and graciousness that made us feel comfortable as soon as we walked through the front door. Their website is spot-on with photos and honest descriptions. From the decor to the wonderful breakfasts, we were delighted with the entire experience. Helpful advice led us to a couple of nearby restaurants, both of which exceeded our expectations. It was very sad when it came time to check out and move on. An African Villa set the tone for our entire stay in South Africa. Without a doubt, this was the best vacation we have ever experienced...and we've traveled all around the world. The toughest decision we had, however, was which beautiful ostrich egg to buy from the array on display. We bought three! While we did see other eggs for sale around the country, we were grateful we had purchased these from Louis and Jimmy...they are done with such taste and style. Those two words aptly describe An African Villa as well.

From the moment we arrived, we were looked after and generally felt the benefit of the owners' and staff's efficiency and helpfulness. Their local knowledge and friendlieness could not have been better for the new visitor. Well deserved accolades to this establishment - keep up the good standards guys!!

My husband and I stayed at An African Villa at the beginning of our African Honeymoon. The interior is gorgeous, breakfasts were the best we had whilst we were in Africa (we stayed at various 4 & 5 star hotels over the 3.5 weeks), the rooms are all spacious and unique in style and the location is in perfect walking distance to the best resturaunts that Cape Town has to offer (don't miss dinner at Manolo's). The thing that stood out the most about An African Villa was the genuine feeling of welcome from the owner who sat with us on our first morning for at least half an hour and explained the best things to see, eat and do. This place is a true gem and the perfect place to call home for your stay in Cape Town.

Like all other guest we had a wonderfull time at this hotel. A great location, exceptionally clean, unbelievable rooms, free port and sherry, breakfast wonderfull, lots of helpfull advice given, and within a short distance lots of very good restaurants. We stayed 5 nights and tried a different restaurants each night, we walked back to the hotel at 10pm - 10.30pm each time with no problems.

A big thank you to all the staff, and we will return.

My wife and I stayed for 3 nights at An African Villa on our recent trip to South Africa. This was by far the best of our hotels in every respect. Everything we wanted was there - large airy room, big comfortable bed. air conditioning, excellent breakfast with plenty of choice, complementary tea/coffee (or sherry or port!), free internet, and even a little gift on our departure. All staff were very helpful and obliging.

This was as good as it gets. Excellent - I can't fault it! Thoroughly recommended.

Like everyone else, we were impressed with the reviews that others had given to An African Villa. We stayed for 7 nights - this is one terrific place to stay.

Forget the hotel experience - this is like being at home, with the luxury of being looked after by friends, in comfort and in total relaxation. Great location for CT, Camps Bay, Table Mountain, restaurants and in relative safety.

Louis, Jimmy and Marcel - you've read about them - the good things are true!! We will return and room A4 will be our choice once again.

Thanks guys (and of course the breakfast ladies, Button and Zip - the dogs and Excite taxis) .

Angela and Ian

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
This Villa is much more than that! It is in fact three houses which are part of a Victorian terrace dating from 1892. The double story houses have been joined together and so the inside spaces are much larger than the facade suggests. It's like walking into a TARDIS someone has written on Tripadvisor! There are 12 rooms and the hotel is owner managed.Location is vital when choosing a spot for you vacation and this more than a Villa is within an easy walk of all tourist attractions in the city area. The others (like the fabulous beaches) are a short taxi ride away. There is a small plunge pool in a peaceful courtyard where a very full breakfast is served in summer. (In winter there's a sociable dining room and an eco-friendly fire blazing). Your hosts are very careful to offer you as much information as you want and they will arrange car rental, restaurant reservations, tours etc. As required.Free internet on 2 computers in a library area and wireless access is available in all rooms. At night the night porter will set out complimentary sherry and port and at other times there is an honesty bar and guest fridge in the kitchen. Parking is on street and there is no charge (street guards patrol) but you should not need a car from this well placed hotel. ... more   less
