Owner description: Baraka Gifts and Decor will take you on an inspiring journey to a dreamworld filled with an eclectic mix of arts, crafts, jewellery, decor and much more! We also sell vintage and antique items because we believe retro design is still very relevant today. At Baraka you will find a range of handmade leather notebooks and photo albums, hand crochet hats, shell and driftwood spoons, affordable jewellery, out-of-the-box art, quirky once-off pieces, unusual non-curio African goods, Panama hats, handbags, hand-woven Zulu baskets made from recycled telephone wire – and the biggest selection of scarves in Cape Town, to mention but a few. Our vision is to afford you an extraordinary shopping experience at very affordable prices. Baraka's loyal customers refer to the shop as a “treasure trove” and “the little shop with the big heart”. But you have to experience it for yourself!

“A Jewel of a Shop”
Reviewed September 9, 2013

This shop is magic, the kind of place where you just browse, falling deep into a world full of delights.
This shop is a must when shopping for gifts, it has all sorts of handmade object, sculptures, paintings. mirrors, weavings, all sorts of quirky objects. The jewellery is sensational, made from all sorts of found objects such as buttons, bottle tops, it really is exceptional and when you hear that the owners of the shop work tirelessly trying to support the local community by selling their local crafts, the talent is obvious. I wanted to buy everything!
This shop not only provides creations from the locals, this is only a small part of what they sell, but from countries such as India. Balti and Gavin travel far and wide to support creative workshops, one example is the beautifully crafted leather handmade books made in India from people who are partially blind.
If you are in Cape town, make sure you make a visit to Baraka Gifts and Decor, you certainly will not be disappointed!

“A CUT ABOVE THE REST”
Reviewed September 7, 2013

Cape Town is full of tourist shops offering curios that often one sees not only in Africa, but also on the streets of Europe's capitals. If you are looking for the unusual, that ''something special'', the souvenir that you won't find on the streets in Europe then Baraka is your shop! It has a great vibe, a buzz that is irresistible - don't leave this off your ''to do'' list when you are in CT.

“Rushed stop but managed to get some nice pieces”
Reviewed August 12, 2013

It was Monday morning, and we checked out from the hotel heading straight to Baraka. Thinking we could get a head start being the first customer at Baraka, but it was still not open. Anyway, we went driving round the neighborhood before stopping by again. This time Gavin was there, welcoming me and apologizing for opening a bit late... There was plenty of nice curios and stuff in the shop but since my hubby was in the car parked somewhere, I quickly got a few nice items. After paying for my stuff, before running off to the car, Gavin gave me and my husband a little momento. So sweet. thank you, Gavin! Those who are looking for souvenirs of South African made, should make their way here first. Things are reasonably priced too.
