“Visit for the "inner peace" as they say”
Reviewed March 21, 2014

Very near to the one of the best accommodations in Cape Town (The Taj). An hour of slow walk through the company gardens into the St Georges will fill you with freshness. The magnificent beauty of the church with wonderful stories knit into its sculptures and walls will keep you involved. Although one can't spend a great deal of time there, still a place worth visiting.

“A must visit in Cape Town”
Reviewed March 19, 2014 via mobile

St George's Anglican Cathedral is a beautiful busing in Central Cape Town & is so well worth a visit whether for worship on Sunday morning or at any time to visit or pray.

This church was a pivotal point in the struggle years when apartheid was at it's height & most pernicious. The world famous Archbishop (Emeritus) Desmond Tutu was the first black archbishop to be appointed here when the struggle was at it's height.

It is worth visiting the cathedral just to gaze at the beautiful rose window.....

The organ is a joy to hear as is the choir on Sunday. There are sometimes organ recitals here too - watch local press.

There is a restaurant / coffee shop in the crypt.

St George's is easy to find & is within walking distance of downtown. It is adjacent to the Company's Gardens which is perfect for a stroll or relax after your cathedral visit.

“Stunning! ”

The cathedral is just absolutely gorgeous and definitely worth a stop to see! The stain glass windows and organ are just something you don't see anymore, and St George's reminds you of the true beauty the churches of this world have

“An insight into history”
Reviewed November 1, 2013

The cathedral stands close to Parliament and from there protest marches have assembled, In the crypt there is an interesting and moving free exhibition about this. The cathedral organ is one of the finest in the Southern hemisphere and there is a lively church life.
