Location location location!
It is perfectly situated for access to Chapmans Peak, Cape Point, Cape Town only 20mins, Camps Bay, Clifton, Constantia etc etc but also its a good beach for waking & a plethora of safe eating establishments you are spoiled for choice.
Ideal base for exploring Western Cape.

We made a stop in Hout's Bay only to be able to take the ferry to Seal Island. It's a 30 min ferry ride and you get to see a lot of seals. Very nice! There were some high waves on our visit and the crew were good enough to inform us where the life vests where and repeatedly encouraged us to hold on, switch sides to avoid water from the waves and so on. Very good (and, sadly, unusual) to get this sort of information on a tourist boat!

Hout Bay is a cool town with a nice harbor. The beach isn't spectacular so go to Camps Bay or other places for lying in the sun. However, the harbor is the main attraction with many fishing boats and the opportunity for having fresh fish and chips. My wife really enjoyed her food at one of the local places. We did take the 45 minute trip by boat to Seal Island. I would rate this activity very high and would recommend it. The cost was around $4 per person. We enjoyed our afternoon at Haut Bay
