Something different to do and very interesting. Planetarium was just as good. Make sure you have enough time to stroll around the museum.

“A lot to take in, harrowing overview of a horrific event”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 5, 2013

Information everywhere and presented as individual stories, timelines, and photographs. There is a lot to read so devote some time to visiting. It is ashame that there aren't first hand accounts recorded in audio format to listen to. We were fortunate to catch the DVD of a first hand account and outline of events; however, without this there is a lot to take on board.

“It will be with you for long”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2013

An impressive history rich museum. Tiny in size but grand as experience.
Take your time, read and learn.
Very touching. Leaves a lot to the imagination.
And help foreigners understand the city's recent past.

“Gives a good appreciation of the nightmare of Apartheid”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2013

Interesting museum, but coming from USA we didn't have much background or perspective on what it represented. We had to kind of piece it together to realized that this was a downtrodden part of town (since torn down) where persons of black or mixed races were forced to live without any opportunity for improving their lives. Once we figured that out it made more sense. Suggestion to Museum management: make a display right at the beginning and on the website that makes this very clear. Don't miss this when you visit Cape Town! It's just about 30 meters from the Hop On Hop Off Bus stop #9.

“Great place to see the history”

Great place to see the history of the apartheid and forced relocation that happened in Cape Town. It explained how the township gangs came to existence.
