This wonderful old building used to be the heart of Cape Town, housing the old mayoral chambers and also the place where countless concerts have been held on a Thursday and Sunday night. This too is the place where Nelson Mandela gave his first speech as a free man after being realeased after 27 yrs of incarceration. The building today, is still used by the city, so if you have a vehicular violation which you have to pay a fine for, this would be the place. The concert hall needs to be spruced up and maybe the interior of the rest of the building too! there are marvelous marble staircases and lots of other things too, just get someone to take you around this wonderful place
