“Historic but unkept”
Reviewed March 22, 2013

This wonderful old building used to be the heart of Cape Town, housing the old mayoral chambers and also the place where countless concerts have been held on a Thursday and Sunday night. This too is the place where Nelson Mandela gave his first speech as a free man after being realeased after 27 yrs of incarceration. The building today, is still used by the city, so if you have a vehicular violation which you have to pay a fine for, this would be the place. The concert hall needs to be spruced up and maybe the interior of the rest of the building too! there are marvelous marble staircases and lots of other things too, just get someone to take you around this wonderful place

“Beautiful Building”
Reviewed January 19, 2013

Cape Town City Hall is an incredible building as it has a full organ in the main hall as well as a library (amongst other offices). I've performed here in the main hall as well as watched concerts here. The little lifts take one back in time. It's a lovely building to visit, a definite must do.

One of the most architecturally beautiful buildings we have in Cape Town. Our buildings are often new and ugly.
Wonderful summer concerts if you like classical music.

Lovely venue, know it quiet well, been there so many times with the Catholic Schools Choirs as well as the many operas and concerts especially the Thursday night concerts are so well supported and appreciated. Great venue for big bands and ochestras.
