Owner description: This street has always been Cape Town’s main street, from its earliest days as an elegant shady walkway to its present dense throng of storefronts.

“not bad at all”
Reviewed June 25, 2014

adderly street is an intereresting place with many faces
from the new convention centerin the north it stretches up to company's garden.
on the way it passes high rises in the CBD, the refurbished train station and the shopping malls.
at the festive season the city hang decorations across the street that is lit up in the evening and many times the street is closed for various events. i think the street can tell many stories as well as it reflects many sides of cape town. check out golden acre. when i first came here i got a the feeling i was in narobi or harare instead of cape town due to the big number of black people. so enjoy the flair of the local people. very very busy at 4-6 when people head home.

“Heart of the Cape”
Reviewed March 23, 2014

My mom worked in Adderly street in the nineteen sixties and when she convinced me to take her there, she never stopped talking about all the places she went to and how fast she had to walk to the train station.

The best about Adderly Street was the FNB Bank. Oh wow! The interior of the bank is like in the old movies! Copper bars, old calendars, marble walls and floors, old wooden chairs, you name it.

The other old buildings in Adderly street has been well maintained and although they look odd inbetween the newer ones, that is probably their way of being spotted.

There are many little food shops that cements the Cape's Muslim identity.

Adderly Street would be a perfect Sunday afternoon walk when there is less traffic.

“Shame”
Reviewed November 17, 2013 via mobile

I worked in Adderley Street 20 years ago and returned this week for a visit. It's a disgrace how one of the main city streets can be so run down, dirty and full of crappy stalls. It used to be a smart thoroughfare full of smart shops and businesses.

“This is a street”
Reviewed July 28, 2013

I wouldn't call this a tourist destination, this is a big street with shops and banks, some buildings are quite pretty but don't worry if you miss this street.

“Why bother!”
Reviewed May 25, 2013

Not a street to really bother with unless you are going to the flower market which is worth a visit if you have time as the ladies who work there are funny.
