“Very good apartments in an excellent location.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 12, 2010

The Waterfront is where you want to stay in Cape Town. Safe, secure with good restaurants in the area. The Waterfront Apts are ideal for staying in this area. To me a far better option than a hotel as you are out an about sightseeing for most of your day. Very clean and serviced daily. Receiption are very helpful and will organise any trips you require. I would recommend these apts to my family and friends if they were heading to SA.

We stayed here on our honeymoon late Dec to early Jan 2010. We found the reception staff really helpful, particularly Leslie, who walked us to the apartment (Altmore) and settled us in. Our luggage did not arrive from a Dubai connection so they helped us arrange it's delivery to the hotel nearby, the Cape Grace, where we had breakfast every day, as the reception there was open 24 hours. By the way we cannot praise the staff in Cape Grace highly enough. Even though we weren't staying there they went out of their way to find our missing luggage, phoning the airport, the transfer company and eventually the driver himself, to ensure our luggage arrived safely. Then they gave us a car and driver to take us and luggage back to the apartment. Top marks. The breakfast there was fabulous and the service second to none - I wish I could afford to stay there! Back to the Waterfront Village, we had a wonderful time there. There was a bottle of champagne in the fridge and chocolates too, as well as coffee and tea bags on arrival. We found the place clean and well serviced, although the maid didn't come on New Years day (fair enough!). Security was good. The walk to the restaurants was fine and safe. We loved the restaurants and found eating outside on New Year's Eve an amazing experience - the waterfront was really buzzing and packed - great for people watching. I will never, ever forget our honeymoon there - the weather was fantastic and the people in the shops, restaurants and the taxi drivers were all so friendly and proud of their city. We had a great time. One tip - take the open topped bus tour from the museum. It was really good, informative and great value.

We stayed in Juliette A on the Waterfront and there is no doubt these are lovely apartments in a quiet area of Cape Town. The apartment itself was easy enough to find (we drove from Cape Town airport) and however the welcome we got was not the friendliest and it seemed to be a chore to show us where the apartment was, however I would say that after this intial meeting the staff were very helpful.

The apartment itself was very large, with a lovely ensuite, masses of wardrobe space, well equpped kitchen, huge balcony and amply sitting area with sofa, chairs and a 6 person table. The apartment was clean (although the maid did not make the bed every day) and well maintained. There did appear to be a few cracks where the apartment had moved and so some tiles were cracked, however this is not an issue for anyone other than the owner. There are three swimming pools around the complex but one of them was only open to residents (rather than guests). Also under the apartments are parking spaces for your care if you hire one.

The waterfront is towards the northern part of Cape Town and is a 5 minute walk from the lively bars and restaurants of the waterfront and you need to use your door entry card to get in and out of the complex which means it feels very secure.

In Cape Town itself the best places to eat are Baia which did a really good cape salmon, also Signal in one of the hotels was one of the best places we have eaten in. Chateaubriand for R175 we thought was a bargain, and the glass of Viognier I had was superb.

We also visited Robben Island which as a bit of a disappointment it lacked te gravitas of other sites of hardship that we have visited, however the boat trip is worth it so you can see the Cape Town waterfront. Also the staff that work in the ticket office are incredible rude and customer service is not in the remit when getting a job there. We visited Table Mountain which is worth the money just to travel on a 360 degree revolving cable car. When you get to the top there are three walks depending on your fitness levels, there are also fantastic views around the bay. In addition we also visited the penguin farm which was worth the trip (if you like penguins) and took a trip around the cape.

Cape Town does suffers from a fair few beggars, and the luminus jacket brigade who will ask you for money because they happen to be near your car when you park. However if you just walk past they tend to go onto the next person.

Overall I thought the apartments were very good, clean and comfortable and would happily recomment them, I was just not that fussed by Cape Town itself.

If you want to be within walking distance of the aquarium, marina, ferry to Robben Island, incredible waterfront restaurants, bus to Table Mountain, then this is the place to stay. We stayed in a two-bedroom apartment in February for three nights and thought it was ideal. Clean, fully equiped kitchen if you need to cook (we had a 19month with us) and really friendly staff. You can have breakfast in one of the nearby restaurants for a reduced fee but we ate in the nearby OYO restaurant, which did an excellent breakfast and you could watch the seal playing around in the harbour.

We booked a 2 bedroom apartment through Home from Home. All directions - if we had followed them exactly - were clear and correct. The apartment very clean and was cleaned well. Both rooms with large ensuites with dining area, kitchen and lounge area and larger TV,DVD satellite. On the waters edge with an easy walk across to the V&A waterfront. Walking distance in daytime to the CTICC. parking under the apartments. Very secure.
