Stayed for 2 nights in mid October in a standard double. Used their taxi service for pick up from airport -guy was waiting on our flight and gave us a decent guide to some key landmarks on way into city. Arrived at hotel around 2pm, got sat down in lounge with coffee while they checked us in. Bedroom was decent size with great furniture and the ensuing was huge. Took breakfast both mornings and there is great selection of fruits, cereals and cooked options. The hotel forms part of aninternal courtyard with a number of bars and restaurants all of which are very good. its also located very close to a number of very good pubs and cafes on Bree, Wale and Long Streets. all the Staff were friendly and helpful. All in all a great short stay in Cape Town centre. Only downside was on the roof there is a great little terrace and sunspot but the jacuzzi was just too hot to sit in... Nitpicking ;)

As the title states, this hotel is practically perfect! Each room has an individual theme, all beautiful (had a sneaky peek at other rooms when they were empty!) Very clean room, boiling hot showers, one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in, fab hot tub on roof, great location (central and felt safe) and yummy breakfast and attentive staff.. what more can you ask for. The only teeny tiny down side is that it was quite noisy at night due to location (I stayed in room 111) but it didn't bother me, and what do you expect for central location? Would definitely return to this hotel without a doubt. Thanks so much to all the staff for a great stay!

Overall, the experience was disappointing, hardly the 'perfect' experience reported by others.

Cape Town was our first stop in our big Africa vacation. We had arranged airport transfer ahead of time through the hotel and were met promptly by the driver. We were transferred without incident to the hotel. After 30 hours of travel from home, we were ready to stop moving, have a nice hot shower, and feel human again.

Unfortunately, life is what happens while you are busy making other plans... Life (and the hotel staff) provided us with a hotel room with hot water issues. It quickly ran out and the staff didn't know why, but assured us it would be fixed tomorrow (today was Saturday). They didn't offer, but I insisted they provide a room I could take a hot shower in. They agreed and I had my hot shower.

Sunday came and went without any improvement in the hot water. They assured me that it would be fixed on Monday but this time had no spare rooms or other ways I could have a comfortable shower. So Sunday was a cold shower day.

Monday morning we were woken to the sounds of chainsaws as they were taking down the tree in the interior courtyard. So that was a rude awakening. Still not hot water, so Monday was another cold shower morning.

When we returned to the hotel from our Monday activities, we were told the hot water issue was fixed and, to my delight, it was. So Tuesday morning was a hot shower morning, what bliss!

Wedneday morning was our check-out and transfer back to the airport to continue on our African vacation, and the early return transfer was arranged through the hotel front desk. Only problem is -- he never showed up. Time ticked away, each second bringing us closer to our departing flight, with us stranded in the hotel lobby. Finally I asked the staff to please call the driver and see where he was. On speaker phone, I could hear he was groggy but gave a standard "I'm stuck in traffic" excuse. So we scrambled to find a taxi (which the hotel agreed to pay for) and barely made it to the airport in time for our flight. Guess what? The roads were empty, no traffic to be found anywhere. Guess the driver couldn't get out of bed.

The fact that these issues occurred at the jetlagged start of our vacation probably makes them seem worse to us than others may perceive them to be. But I would ask you to consider whether these experiences should be had when staying at a place advertised and reputed to be as upscale and boutique as this place is alleged to be?

I would be remiss by not pointing out the things that went right, in all fairness. The room was big, the bathroom, though devoid of hot water, was spacious, the provided breakfast was nice and full of choices (continetnal or hot), the coffee was good.

They have all the makings of a perfect place to stay if the place was, ultimately, run better...

I wouldn't stay here again.

Room Tip: Rooms on the street side are noisier, go for one on the interior courtyard but know people dine and...

Thank you very much for taking the time to review the Cape Heritage. Whilst we have been in contact directly, please allow me to respond in this forum as well. The hot water issue was investigated at the time and our maintenance attendant confirmed that the water was to temperature and that other rooms were not experiencing the same problem.. Our solar geysers operate to a maximum thermostat temperature of 50 degrees Celsius – this is amongst other reasons to prevent the risk of burning. We did however replace the thermostat on the Monday with one that heats to 75 degrees Celsius.

We apologise that the transport arranged did not make it on time. We prefer using this driver as he has proven himself to be most reliable. Unfortunately the driver was delayed with an unforeseen traffic hold-up due to an accident from the area he was travelling from.

It is always our aim to provide the best possible guest service and have all our guests feel at home and pampered. It is therefore most regrettable that you did not enjoy your experience with us. We trust that the token of goodwill as confirmed in our previous correspondence, will in a small way compensate for the inconvenience you suffered.

The airport pick up they arranged for us was great. (We ended up hiring Mr. Domingo, our taxi driver, for our all day Cape tour.) We had a warm welcome every time we entered the hotel or came down the stairs from our beautiful room. The staff was extremely helpful in every way and the location was great for walking to nearby shops and great restaurants. The breakfast had just about anything a person could want. One of the mornings we were heading out very early before breakfast service and they very kindly put out food for us before the "official" breakfast time.
My husband's bag did not arrive from the airport and they had already called the airport to check on it before we came down for breakfast! They were so on top of things and went the extra mile to ensure we had a wonderful stay.
Our only negative was we didn't plan enough days in Cape Town!

Me and my partner stayed at this hotel towards the end of September. We had to rearrange our booking about a month before arrival, and there were absolutely no issues doing this, which was obviously a relief.

On a very basic level, the rooms were clean, the staff were very friendly and the breakfast was excellent.

The location of the hotel is excellent - it's about a 20 minute walk to the Waterfront, about a five minute walk to the middle of the city, and about 10 minutes in a taxi to the bottom of Table Mountain.

The airport transfers were very good - I'm sure that there are cheaper ways of getting to the hotel and back from the airport, but our driver doubled up as a guide of sorts, explaining various landmarks and telling us about the history of the city.

If there was a negative - and it's barely a negative, merely a symptom of an English couple in Africa - it would be that on one of the days, it was around 18 degrees outside, and obviously the staff thought this was particularly cold, as when we returned to our room, the heating was on and I think that extra blankets were provided.

We loved this small boutique hotel! Our room was African themed; it was unique and comfortable. This is an old building so there were some small quirks - the light switches being one so just keep that in mind. Great value for the money! The staff went out of their way to be helpful. They made arrangements, calls, you name it. Very friendly people. I wish I could stay! I also went to the spa and did the fish therapy and had a massage; it was very nice with professional staff.

This is a beautiful historical boutique hotel and a lovely experience. All the suites are different. We chose a junior suite and were fortunate to get the beautiful suite pictured on the website. But, I'm sure we would have been happy with any suite. We could not have been happier with the staff. They make you feel right at home as soon as you enter and are most attentive. Breakfast was something to look forward to and there are excellent restaurants surrounding the hotel, as well as, African crafts. A lot to see and do within walking distance. Also, the hotel's grapevine is pretty amazing having been planted around 1771 and still producing.

Room Tip: We stayed in 104, which has the most amazing bathroom!
