The hotel is exquisite, the rooms are tastefully and beautifully decorated and the bathrooms are almost opulent. It is the staff however that make one's stay memorable as they are friendly and informative. Highly recommended.

We stayed here for 4 nights at the beginning of our honeymoon. The staff are wonderful, so friendly and helpful. Our room was nicely furnished and the bathroom had a lovely stand alone bath and separate shower with very large shower head. Fresh water is delivered to the room every day and a well-stocked fridge is very welcome too. Another bonus was the hair dryer was fantastic, a proper powerful one which was not attached to a wall like in a lot of other hotels! We only discovered the jacuzzi on the hotel roof on our last day and wish we'd found it earlier. Although there is no restaurant in the actual hotel there are a couple of lovely restaurants in the courtyard of heritage square but be sure to book them in advance!

Checking in late the night prior to New Year's Eve, my husband and I were anxious to get horizontal (30+ hours of travel will do that). We were eagerly greeted by a kind gentleman who promptly showed us to our room, which was immaculate in every detail. We opted to stay in a junior suite (Room 107) which faced Bree Street. Because Cape Heritage is in an historic old building, much of the original wood is still being used. This in combination with colorful, local art, creates a wonderfully sophisticated feel with old world charm. Simply beautiful!
The junior suite (#107) has doors that opened out onto the main street, which is fantastic when the wind isn't blowing a gale. It also has an enormous tub, heated towel rack, mini-fridge, large wardrobe, great toiletries (made locally), and other amenities to be expected.

One caveat that some may find difficulty with is the fact that parts of hotel sit over a Thai restaurant. This means that on certain occasion (mostly nights and weekends), the smell of fried noodles may waft upward toward the rooms. For us, it simply meant the bathroom air would often have a cooking oil aroma to it. We didn't view it as a major catastrophe as the smell was confined to the loo area. We did however, overhear another couple complaining one morning and demanding to switch rooms. Personally, we try not to let small things such as this ruin a spectacular experience. (And yes, the hotel is aware as they have conscientiously placed air purifiers where necessary.)

Each morning, breakfast is provided and usually constitutes an array of meats, cheeses, breads, and fruit. Sufficient for most travelers; however, there is a made-to-order menu for those who prefer. There is a lovely (and quite old) grapevine in which to dine under when weather permits. The staff at this hotel is something to marvel, as each morning they greet you and set your table up with your beverages of choice. If you stay more than a few nights, you will come to understand how the staff works and communicates impeccably with one another.

Heritage Square is an entire block within itself. There are several fine restaurants here, but consider making reservations immediately upon arrival as some can be difficult to get into. (Check tripadvisor for Cape Town restaurants and you will see Bizerca at the top of 400+ eateries.) The square has a great location as many attractions are within walking distance, and for those that are not, try the hop-on, hop-off, red cityseeing tour bus. It can be quite touristy, but if you do not have an automobile, this will provide an inexpensive way to travel the town and beyond. (There is a bus stop a couple of blocks from the hotel.) There is a Spar grocery nearby as well, but be advised many of Cape Town's markets close between 4-6 pm.

Nevermind those travelers who complained of the noise. Yes, please realize this hotel is situated within one of Cape Town's oldest structures and that yes, there is no place for a major insulation overhaul. I am an extremely light sleeper and I solve it with 2 little plugs, one in each ear. Please do not overlook such a gem as this due to something as petty as the bustling sounds of a busy city.

This is a fantastic little hotel that is really out to please each and every one of it's occupants. I would return in a heartbeat if only we didn't live so darn far away! Thank you, Cape Heritage!

Room Tip: Rooms facing the street may be a bit louder; however, simply bring earplugs if you have noise sensit...

This is a really great place in Cape Town to really relax and enjoy the sights close by to town , Staff are wonderful and hotel is unique. Safe area to be in, with restaurants very nearby or a short cab ride away.

Room Tip: Ask for the heritage rooms. Some rooms come with balconies (115), some are larger (117) But all a...

We had an excellent stay at the Cape Heritage in Dec 2012. The Hotel is a charming boutique type in a very central position in Cape Town. The Waterfront is only about a 20 minute walk and the main shopping area also just a short walk. Table mountain (a must) is just a short taxi ride away. The hotel organised a driver/guide for a Vineyards trip to Paarl/ Franschhoek/ Stellenbosch. It was excellent. We ate at the scenic Roca restaurant with magnificent views at Dieu Donne Vineyards. A trip to the Cape of Good Hope is a must too. Fantastic views - take many photos. Also took the Red open top bus and got off to swim and sunbath at Camps Bay. Robben Island was a revelation, just a ferry from the Waterfront.
The superb staff at the Hotel will look after all your needs and the rooms are excellent.

I stayed the week before Christmas with my family of 5.The rooms we had where 117 and 116. They where quite simply amazing value for money.Spotlessly clean, aircon working, large modern bathrooms. There are 3 great restaurants within 200 metres,Savoy cabbage possibly the best in Cape town attatched. The secret weapon of this hotel is the staff. They work as a team and help each other when needed, the result is you feel "looked after",front desk was always helpful.Breakfast was excellent and freshly cooked.Look no further.
