Great, original hotel with lovely rooms and inspiring art. Serves cosy breakfasts in the hotel's court yard. The service was also very good, everyone from the staff was willing to help out with all kinds of things. Would definitely go back if ever in Cape Town again! /Sofie & Hans

Let me start of by saying Cape Town is one of the best cities i have ever been to. I would live here if given the opportunity. Our stay in this hotel definitely contributed to that overall sentiment. The location is excellent. Stone's throw from Long's street and lots of bars and restaurants. Probably 2 or 3 kilometers away from the waterfront. You can walk it but if you plan to go there more than once you might want to take a taxi on the second time. Main concern about this hotel was the TV in our room was a small very very old CRT TV. No bigger than 22 inches. First the TV did not go with the rest of the room. The decorations and motif was beautiful except for that TV. Second, all the other rooms we saw had big new LCD TVs probably 40 inches. This made me feel short changed. Second concern was small nuances in the service. Staff was very friendly but probably needed to be trained more. One guy we asked couldn't give us suggestions for a wine tour and didn't know about the market. I also wanted to exchange money (100 Euros) but was told the manager did not come to work so there wasn't enough Rand to give me. But after all is said and done i would probably stay here again if i return.

Room Tip: get a room facing bree street.

South Africa had been on my bucket list for 20 years, so turning 40 was the justification for spending a bit extra on this year's holiday, and heading to Cape Town where Cape Heritage Hotel was our first port of call. They say you only get one chance at a first impression and the one we got was truly heart-warming. The staff (Keeley (spelt correctly? sorry if not!) and Bamford were absolutely brilliant and couldn't do enough for us. Our room was lovely, possibly the largest I've stayed in at that price range, and it was immediately obvious that a lot of time and thought had gone into the decor, with a sublime mix of European and African influences. Obviously on a city break, we didn't spend too much time at the hotel, wishing to get out and see the lovely city, but the time we did spend there will stay in the memory forever. Breakfast was the most delightful affair, with a varied specials board, excellent food and staff that were friendly to a fault. Everything was geared towards us enjoying our stay and we did...every single minute.
The hotel is located very close to "downtown" Cape Town, but if you've just got off a plane and don't want to venture too far, we were really impressed by the other eateries and bars attached to the hotel comprising Heritage Square. But if you do fancy a blow out, Long Street is 2 minutes away.
I really can't praise this hotel enough, it was excellent value for money, in a great location and the staff were just fantastic. We'll be back in future, of that there is no doubt.

Room Tip: No tips required, I bet even the cellar at this place is great!

Went to South Africa with partner, sister-in-law and her friend(both straight, but not narrow).
This hotel is a restored historic building with beautiful rooms. The bathroom was larger than our living room! There was a double rain shower, double sinks, marble floors and soaker tub that was big enough for 2!
There was a smoking lounge (heads up that allow smoking there & in rooms) and another lounge with a computer for all to use.
The art throughout is done by local artists and eclectic.
The personnel couldn't be more helpful, whether arranging tours, suggesting restaurants or calling us a cab.
The breakfast(included) had a large variety of options and a chef that could cook you a larger choice of breakfast.
It was within walking distance of the shopping markets.

Room Tip: We were in rooms 104 & 107. We saw a few other rooms, but felt ours were the nicest. Each had the...

There was not one staff member that didn't share a smile with you and were always offering help. They showed concern when we were suffering from a big night, and I dinned on a perfect omelet for breakfast ... A very rare thing. The bench mark has been set for boutique hotels.

To be honest, I chose this place based on other reviewers - so thank you folks! This is a lovely hotel, in a fabulous situation in the centre of Cape Town. I had somehow imagined that the hotel was in a square, but actually the hotel is the square (well half of one) with the delightful courtyard at the centre used for breakfast and other restaurants/galleries at the rear, Our bedroom (107) contained the most enormous bed which would have dwarfed most rooms but this one was absolutely massive!
The staff were the most helpful and delightful group of people you could ever hope to meet. When I come back to Cape Town (fingers crossed I will one day) I will definitely stay here.
The only slight down-side might be that there is no in-house restaurant but there are four very close by (we ate in two - one was fully booked) and others a short stroll away. Sunday night is the only night that might be difficult - we got a taxi to the V&A waterfront which wast packed! I was glad we had got a taxi there and not walked there as there were a number of people waiting for a taxi home who had been ripped off (only V&A taxis operate out of the area). We weren't as we knew how much it had cost to get there in a metered cab so were only prepared to pay the same going home.
