“A brilliant weekend getaway”
Reviewed August 31, 2014

This hotel is perfectly situated in the Cape Town Waterfront. The service is impeccable and the quality of the food cannot be faulted... The room was spacious and the king size bed very comfortable! The full english buffet breakfast includes oysters, bubbly, quality meats and fresh fruit - The eggs benedict was the best we have had... Overall a brilliant experience - General Manager Rey Franco runs a tight ship.. Faultless! We will definitely visit again soon!

Room Tip: junior suite with Kingsize bed - mountain facing!

Previous to our holiday, we had heard many good things about the V&A hotel and therefore we were thrilled when our last minute reservation was confirmed. The hotel far exceeded our expectations and vastly added to our whole experience in Cape Town. We only booked for half board therefore only having bed and breakfast, but wow. The rooms were stunning and spotless, but the breakfast... I cannot recommend it enough. The only thing they didn't have, was porridge. We didn't even need the hot breakfast, could have happily had the 'continental' alone. But the hot breakfasts were cooked to order and were so delicious. However, what impressed me most, was the staff. I have never been so impressed with the service of an establishment. The staff were so kind, friendly and just couldn't do enough for you. Always smiling and always helpful. Naturally we didn't spend a massive amount of time in the hotel, but the time we did spend there definitely encouraged and future trips returning to South Africa.

Room Tip: Rooms that don't have a habour view are cheaper and are just as lovely.

What an amazing hotel in a brilliant location. It was so close to all at the waterfront. We were also able to park our hire car and so had freedom to drive around. We didn't eat dinner at the hotel as there were so many restaurants around the waterfront to try. Breakfast at the hotel however was fantastic. We sat outside looking over the water and at table mountain. A lovely hotel that I would return to.

Spent a week at this great location - you step right out onto the vibrant waterfront. From pick-up at the airport to check-out it could not have been better.

Take your breakfast outside looking at the fantastic Table Mountain ( i'd forgotten that the sky could be so blue as I live in the ME!) and ,as everyone else has said, you can have champagne as well as tea!

Rooms were very nice, modern and clean (the building was originally a warehouse) and the hotel is "cosy". We had a room at the front, facing the big wheel and it was great to open the windows and listen and see the African bands below (its only a two storey building).

In spite of what others say if you like walking you can be in downtown in 30 minutes (strolling pace).

There isn't a pool but the sister hotel is five minutes walk away and you can use that pool. Not that you'll have time for lolling around with so much to see and do.

Special mention to Liezel, the Travel Desk Consultant and Nwabisa on Reception for their exceptional friendliness.

Its always worth paying the extra.

Room Tip: Ask for one at the front, not a loft.

We arrived in the pouring rain and were greeted very efficiently by the front door staff and directed to a parking space in front of the hotel. As we were early our room wasn't yet ready, so they took our bags and we sat down to a delicious lunch while we waited. Raymond, our waiter, took care of us and was very engaging. The three of us had a large second-floor room with a view of Table Mountain. Everything was extremely comfortable, the laundry excellent and room service very efficient. The food was very good indeed - breakfast was wonderful, with a huge buffet and delicious cooked dishes. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a fantastic location, within a few moments' walk of superb restaurants, bars, shops, boat trips and attractions. We had rented a car at the airport (it's a very easy drive to and from the hotel), so made various trips: the Leopard Bar in the 12 Apostles hotel for sundowners, down to the Cape (where we saw a huge herd of eland), the penguins at Simonstown … We spent two nights in Cape Town and wish it could have been for longer. We'll be back soon and would definitely stay at this hotel again.

We were greeted in the car park and our luggage was immediatley taken care of. As we had arrived on an overnight flight, our room was not ready on arrival but we were given coffee and didn't have to wait very long. Unfortunately the rooms on one of the floors were being refurbished so we were in a smaller loft room but as we were out for most of the day it didn't bother us too much, we were given a complimentary glass of wine! The room was clean and comfortable. The staff were very helpful and keen to please. Breakfast had a fabulous choice on the buffet, including champagne and oysters! There was also an excellent selection of hot food cooked to order. We ate in the restaurant a couple of times. The food was good with huge portions. This hotel is situated on the Waterfront, which is a long way out of the city centre but the best spot for accessing tourist attractions. The Cityhopper buses stop a few metres away to explore the city and surrounding area. The trip to Robben Island and the aquarium are also just a few metres away. There is an abundance of restaurants and a fantastic shopping centre which houses an eclectic mix of eating places, cultural & modern shopping.

Room Tip: Don't choose a loft room as they have sloping ceilings and are small.

decided to choose a hotel in the waterfront, and the V&A is smack in the middle, location, location, location, we were greeted in the car park and escorted to reception, our room was on the second floor and through our window we could see the big wheel. as it was my husbands birthday a bottle of bubbly and a birthday card awaited him in the room. the room and all the amenities was luxurious. the breakfast was a surprise, not the usual spread, oysters and bubbly is part of the buffet
