At the end of a 5 month trip we booked into the commodore, after a brief chat with the receptionist about the nature of our visit we were upgraded and treated very well throughout our stay, the rooms are very nice with good views of table mountain.

Room Tip: View of table mountain is a must!

I stayed hear in March while on a business trip and it was good but nothing great. The breakfast was pretty poor and the general staff were very friendly while the restaurant staff were very average and unhelpful. I would not go back, but it is in a good location, rooms are clean but basic and a bit worn.

I traveled with my girlfriend to Cape Town on a short vacation. Expecting a 5 star Hotel, we arrived about 2 hours early before check in and asked if there was any way for them to help us and the receptionist immediately said no that they were full, the room is in serious need of an upgrade. The food was average and dinner the same, expensive to say the least. The location is brilliant as it is right next to the V&A waterfront.

Room Tip: I would recommend this hotel only for its location, nothing else.

Very nice older hotel very close the V&A Waterfront and attractions.
The staff were wonderful and looked after us in every way. The rooms are well maintained and comfortable.
The best thing is how easy it is to get evrywhere from the hotel. The Waterfront and restaurants are a 4 minute walk as is the Hop on Hop off bus tour.
Loved it.

This is an older hotel with a fabulous location. It's a very short walk to all of the attractions in the Waterfront area of Capetown. The rooms are adequate albeit small by US standards. Where this hotel really shines is with the staff. All, without exception, were more than willing to be helpful and caring. If you are a visitor without a lot of experience in Capetown or South Africa, the benefit of having this level of staff concern and care should make it your choice. This will be my choice when I go back to Capetown.

Room Tip: There are some rooms on the North side with a view of Table Mountain, if it isn't covered with clouds.
