“Lovely location, extremely friendly staff”
Reviewed April 27, 2014

Lovely hotel, (amazing building), just off the well known and interesting Long Street. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Room was lovely but just be aware, one review comments that all rooms have lovely view of the square. Ours didn't as it was at the back with frosted windows and awful view if you opened them!! Nevertheless it was clean and a pleasant modern room. And besides, the 8th floor sauna with view of the mountains more than made up for it!! Pool is only very small lap pool on an 8th floor terrace. It was windy and cool up there when we stayed but perhaps more so due to time of year. If I visited Cape Town again I wouldn't hesitate to stay here but would request a room at the front.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review on our property and the wonderful comment about our staff. Our staff do take their roles very seriously and try everday to provide quality customer service.

We glad you agree with us our building is amazing and is a National Monument as well.

We do hope to welcome you back to Cape Town and of course we will allocate a room with a front facing view for you.

Best Regards

Loved Cape Town and we would have been happy just about anywhere because we're not fussy travellers. The staff at this hotel were absolutely delightful - helpful, friendly and attentive.
The food and service were great, breakfasts particularly hearty and extensive.
Unfortunately, the bathrooms are completely unworkable - almost need to stand on the toilet to open the door - it's literally that small. Nothing is where it needs to be - nowhere to hang the towels, shower leaked like crazy and they never replaced the soap/shampoo etc (we were there for five nights).
But nonetheless, they were all very happy and obliging people, and we certainly wouldn't hesitate to praise them. They might just want to have a think about the design of the rooms and the bathrooms in particular.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay because Cape Town is a great city, and the Inn on the Square is VERY conveniently located.

Room Tip: Might pay to ask if some of the rooms have larger bathrooms than others.

The rooms face the square which can be noisy during the day but not at night. The rooms are comfortable and big (although the bathroom is very small in comparison).
During the day the area is safe, full of shops and restaurants and close to all kinds of transport (bus, train and tourist bus).
The breakfast was very good too.
The staff at reception should improve a little they skills.

Room Tip: the higher the better

Thank you for taking the time to write your review of our property.
We pride ourselves with consisten high standards of service and constantly change the way we operate to ensure complete guest satisfaction, it is only through feedback received from our guests that we are able to achieve this.

Your comments regarding the small bathroom is noted. Unfortunatley it is an old building and a national momunment . Structural changes to enlarge the bathrooms were unfortunately not accepted. Retraining has been completed in Housekeeping with regards to replacing of the toiletries.

For a nominal fee, you can be upgraded to a family room which is very spacious and has a larger bathroom with seperate shower and bath.

We do thank you for your support and hope to welcome you back in the not too distant future

Kind Regards

Nice hotel with modern room, comfortable bed, tv and modern bathroom. We stayed 1 night here and it was a nice location only 5 mins drive and $7 can ride to waterfront. Cute little market right in front if hotel. Do not walk around this city alone or at night if you can avoid it. Even during the day you need to be aware and not travel wit expensive stuff. Waterfront area felt very safe but still you need to be aware. We did not have any issues other than some kids very obviously trying to pick pocket us and they were aggressive but we had nothing and pushed them off us. Hotel is clean and decent value. No fridge or anything in room, just standard hotel but nice and very comfy bed. I would stay here again if in Cape Town but it would be max of 1 day because the coastal towns in South Africa are some of the most amazing places I've ever been! Cape Town is a nice city to see.

I traveled with a group to South Africa and we loved this hotel. Every morning vendors set-up in the square out front so there is plenty of shopping right there. A great food market is on the other side of the square, a pharmacy just a block away, amd plenty of restaurants nearby. The staff here was friendly and helpful and the food at the restaurant good- we loved the inlet option for breakfast.

During our - way to short! - stay in Cape Town we stayed at the Inn on the Square. We really enjoyed our stay. The room was big and lovely and the pool on the roof was really nice and refreshing!
The first day we used up all of our towels, in the next morning they came round eight o'clock asking for our laundry. That was weird, that early. Luckily I already got up, so I could give it to them. When we wanted to shower that night, we discovered we didn't get new towels. The reception appologized but then we got just two little towels.
The next day they came again very early to ask for laundry, we didn't get up jet, so we asked for a moment, but then the lady already got in. We're not sure she didn't hear us, but she left right away (before she totally came in) when we called: "No, please, wait!".

The breakfasts were really good with lots of food. The pool on the roof was nice and refreshing. Our view was really good: we looked over the square where there is a souvenirmarket, it was lovely.

The location of the hotel is perfect: right in the center, everything is nearby and really easy to get to. Also close to stops for the tour busses, where you can see everything in Cape Town.

Nice detail (we didn't use though, 'cause of the temperatures outside) they've got a sauna and fitness area, next to the pool (which we did use, of course).

Room Tip: We had a room with a view on the square: lovely to see all the people walking around and enjoying th...

We stayed in several hotels during our stay in CT. This is one of the best only surpassed by the other Three Cities property. Valet was nice and the location was great to amazing! Loads of cafes and shopping around. Room was clean and well put together every morning. It did, however, smell like smoke every morning which was bizarre as we don't smoke. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again. If you need your travel clothes cleaned they do an amazing job for cheap!
