“3* hotel with a 5* staff”
Reviewed November 25, 2012

We spent seven nights in this small, quite basic hotel, which is near to the Parliament and the police station and so its surrounding area, although a little rundown, is pretty safe but the streets outside can be a bit noisy. The room was small but comfortable and clean with a bath and shower. There is a computer in the lobby for customers' use and reasonably fast wifi throughout the hotel.
We visited the Company's Gardens, District Six Museum, St George's Cathedral, the Slave Lodge & Bo Kaap Museum - all within easy walking distance of the hotel. The markets at the Parade and the Greenmarket are worth visiting too, especially on a Saturday morning. The V&A Waterfront was a good 20 minutes walk away. The nearest tourist bus stop isn't so far away. We hopped on and hopped off at various places, including Table Mountain on a beautiful sunny day. Hotel staff booked us a great value for money half-day tour down to the Cape of Good Hope.
The hotel's breakfast included cereals, fruits, cheese & cooked meats and sausage, bacon and egg - enough to fill anyone! In the evening we ate cheaply at the Eastern Food Bazaar or, a bit more expensively at the restaurants in or near the Greenmarket area. But the best value for money was the restaurant attached to the hotel. The Cousins provides large servings of Italian food - fresh pasta & lovely side salads. Simone and Andreas also work the hotel's breakfast shift.
Antonio, the manager, is justifiably proud of The Parliament and its 5 star staff - Farai, Dominic, Freda, Kay & Shamima - plus the housekeeping staff. Many thanks. We hope to return.

After visiting my friends in Capetown, Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, I decided to spent my last night in this hotel. Staff was extremely friendly and explained everything and helped me to find my way to the waterfront, which was a nice walk. The next day I needed a shuttle to the transfer, which immediately was arranged and when I walked in early, the manager sat down with me to have a nice chat about the hotel, Capetown and the surroundings. The wifi was perfect, tv working correctly and the room was clean and fresh. Would recommend this hotel for the perfect citytrip.

Excellent services from the staff-everyone's friendly and helpful. They made several calls to different tour operators just to make sure I can get a slot on last min arrangement. Shamima took 20 mins to advise what I can do in my free time.
Room is clean but ask to be on higher floors as it can be quite noisy at night. I understand that it is in the heart of the business district therefore be careful at night.
For the price, this is good value for money and services were excellent.

This hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of the centre of Cape Town. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The rooms are comfortable, with Wi-Fi available or a computer for use by guests in the hotel lobby. Breakfast is available at the hotel and other meals from the linked Italian restuarant.

Its a modest hotel with great service, the staff were very helpful and willing.
I stayed on the second floor, the room was spacious and clean with fast Wi-fi connection. The view was facing the adjacent building with big windows that brought in plenty of light.
The location is central to the city. If you are driving, parking is at an additional cost.
Overall all my needs were met, as the receptionist put it “its a home away from home”

This new modest hotel is really friendly, safe and quiet. When we entered our room, the light flooded in and the light wooden furniture was bright and welcoming. The room looked out on the mountains and it was a pleasure to see the day coming and going and the changing nature of the street traffic and pedestrians.
We were able to book our shuttle to and from the airport and were given sound advice on walking into town and what to see. The hop-on-off bus stops not far away although we mostly walked to the Tourist Office stop about 15 minutes away.
We ate in the evening at the new Trattoria next door who also provided our very good breakfast. The staff are currently perfecting their Italian dishes from first hand input from the relatives so genuine pasta is guaranteed.

The staff at Parliament Hotel were exceptionally warm and helpful. They went out of their way to help me book excursions and were all so kind and very genuine when I asked for their opinion about places to go. The room had a fantastic view of Table Mountain and it was spotlessly cleaned everyday. Definitely get the breakfasts as the food was fantastic and the pasta dishes were delicious-great place to carbload before climbing Table Mountain.

Room Tip: Easy walk to St. Gerorge Mkt and Eastern eatery.
