“Excellent service and a great location”
Reviewed January 16, 2012

We were very impressed with our stay at the Cape Town Lodge.

The staff were friendly and helpful. We had arranged a Airport transfer in advance with the Hotel and the driver was waiting for us at arrivals. We arrived at the hotel at 7am (not expecting to be able to check in until 2pm), and our room was ready for us.

We stayed in a suite, and the room was huge. Well furnished and cleaned well daily.

The reception staff were helpful and arranged tours for us.

We had a meal in the hotel restaurant (Butchers Grill) which was excellent - not the cheapest meal in Capetown but well worth it.

Room Tip: We had a suite on 8th floor and it was excellent.

We were transferred from Adderly Hotel to Cape Town Lodge after the former messed up our reservation (see my review). Staff was courteous and helpful and offered us a better room (the first one being far too small for 2 persons) after inquiring if we were satisfied with the accomodations.

The hotels is located only a couple of blocks from Long Street, the Bo'Kaap district is just across the road (Buitengracht Street) and a busstop for the CityTour bus is also conveniently close by. Otherwise, this hotel caters to both tourists and businessmen alike. Decent, reasonable value for ZAR, but nothing extraordinary...

On 14-16 November 2011, I had a conference at Cape Town Lodge. We were told that our things would be "safe" in the Conference Room. On the 16th, when we returned for the last day, we found that our stuff was moved to another room. When I had a look at my things that were moved, I noticed that my pencil clip wasn't there. It has been with me for 25 years and has lots of sentimental value. When inquiring with the personnel, they said they would have a look and get back to me. To date, they haven't. The General Manager (Cindi Onia) was informed about this. Her response is dreadful and unacceptable. She said: "we do not have incidents in the conferencing department as you stating. Our staff has been working here for years and always hand in anything that a guest may have forgotten. The hotel will not be taking responsibility..." How ridiculous is this? She just doesn't give a hell about what I feel and know. How do they stay in business with attitudes like this?

The room is small with dirty thick carpet. Only two twin beds for two adults. Towels are small and not enough. I don't understand how come they got "4 star".
They charge a hefty price for wifi. The hotel shuttle charges 3 times more than a taxi. Take a look at the bill, they even charge you for "snacks" you never consumed.
Totally nor worth the $, With the same price, you can have other options with much better quality.

It's fine for a business traveller - with all the basic amenities - although no free wifi. Rooms are sizeable, clean, comfortable beds and good bathroom. It's not luxury but more than adequate for a few days. Good value if you book on a discount website

Booked through a last minute deal...my advice is: If you can swing the extra $ for a suite...do it, they are beautiful. Also, breakfast is a wonderful buffet, pretty much anything you could want for breakfast. The room was loft style with exposed brick and a wonderful view of table mountain from the 10th floor. The staff was also super helpful, had a late check out without charge and they kept our bags for the afternoon since our flight didn't leave until 11:30. Can't say enough nice things, hopefully they read these reviews and know that they were appreciated. It was exactly the laid back place we needed before our 20+ hours of flights home. Thanks guys!

Room Tip: Suite is worth the price.
