I've stayed in Westin 2 weeks ago for the Africacom event and it was the perfect option for me and other colleagues. The hotel is just next to the convention center and the facilities they offer to the guests are perfect for business.
Excellent rooms, good internet access, easy access café for quick meetings.... Im all compliments to the hotel.
Worth also to mention their staffs, always ready to help with big smile.

Room Tip: Corner rooms are the best

The standard offered by this hotel is very high. It is ideally located in the heart of Cape Town with easy access all round. It is linked to the Cape Town International Conference Centre. The staff are wonderful, ever ready to be of assistance. I was stranded without accommodation during a very busy week in Cape Town and being a Starwood Preferred Guest helped a great deal as the management went out of their way to ensure that I had a room. The one improvement I would suggest is more staff in the restaurants as service was slow.

It is a Westin and it brings the quality services attached to this chain, part of the Starwood group (I've stayed in some of their brands: Sheraton, Le Meridien, W). However, apart from an excellent location for the conference center (CTICC), it is equally distant from center Cape Town and the Waterfront and you can walk both ways without hassle. Excelent views of the city from the 19th floor. Get a room with a view the Waterfront, you have no big buildings in front of you (ok you don't see Table Mountain but the overall view is much better). Reception was very good at handling all requests and everything seemed to run smoothly. Second time there and I will return.

Room Tip: High floors (ok, more expensive) and even numbers, looking at the waterfront.

The hotel is well located next to the International convention center and a 5-10 minute drive from V&A waterfront. The Check-in was nice and smooth (periodically during the day they get really busy when they have large convention groups checking-in). We had a nice corner suite, which was comfortable with lot of floor to ceiling window. We could see V&A waterfront on one side and Table mountain on the other (with a building obstructing part of the view in the middle).

Our least favorite thing at the hotel was the food and beverage service – both in the executive lounge and the restaurant on the ground floor. Selection was good but the service was extremely poor. First, it is very hard to get some one’s attention. Second, when you did get the attention, we appeared to be bothering them and lastly, they could almost never get a simple order right – something was always missing or an incorrect order was brought.

Some other tips:
- Do a high tea at Mount Nelson hotel. Beautiful historic hotel and nice selection of pastries, sandwiches etc. Excellent service;

- Hop-on hop-off red bus once to get oriented and figuring out what you want to see;

- Next time, we might split the stay between a few days at a hotel near a beach and the wine country instead of staying downtown. V&A waterfront is nice but nothing great if you have been to Fisherman’s wharf in San Francisco or Navy Pier in Chicago or similar in another city. There is not much else to see in the city center itself.

- Dinner at Masala Dosa a short cab ride was outstanding. The owner himself waits on the table (it is a very small but nice restaurant where you are unlikely to see tourists). The restaurant was on Time Out Critic’s choice and that is how we found it. Very reasonable as well;

- The One &Only hotel at Waterfront has several nice restaurants to choose from;

- Skip Bukhara Indian restaurant. While the food itself was good, the service was pathetic. Server decided to substitute an item we ordered and charged us for it despite us not touching it. Also, he had attitude issues. May be it was just our server but why bother when there are nicer choices.

What a great stay in so many ways and I definitely recommend this hotel.

At first, I was a bit hesitant to book this hotel as it is a big chain hotel and I didn't want an anonymous experience (unlike my business trips) on this stay, especially with so many 'boutique' options in Cape Town. Nonetheless, I got a great rate, the reviews were great and I knew it was a new property. I didn't regret it and even stayed an additional night at the end of the week!

The hotel is new and has been maintained in great shape. We took the City Bus from Cape Town airport and it drops off not far from the hotel but requires a short taxi ride. The hotel is located right next to the convention centre so it probably has the potential to get quite busy. It is a big and busy hotel but the staff really do make the difference and I felt welcome and appreciated at every encounter. Special thanks to Candice at the front desk!

Check in was smooth and then a lovely room on the 18th floor. We had Club level access which was really appreciated and a lovely place to relax and look at Table Mountain. Breakfast in the lounge was of an incredible standard and better than any Starwood Club breakfast I have ever had. The service was also excellent.

Gym facilities were excellent and so were the steam, pool and and sauna. It was a great workout and wind down afterwards.

Room was spacious with a great view over the harbour area and the sports stadium. Location is quite good and there is a free shuttle to the waterfront area with lots of restaurants to choose from. Parking at only 50R a day with in and out priveleges and valet was of great value and also really appreciated.

Overall, a great stay and a real model for all other Westins and Starwood properties worldwide. Many thanks!

A.Wong

Helpful staff and great facilities make this a great spot for a conference. Hotel catering was well above expectation, especially breakfast. The location isn't particularly tourist friendly, but ok if you are happy to walk a bit. Nice touches include a gym with a fret view and a waterfront shuttle.
