“Something lacking”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 7, 2013

We stayed in this hotel for three nights at the end of 2012, we hadn't been to Cape Town before and decided on the Westin as it was an international chain hotel, we thought the rooms would be comfortable and also it was quite well located in the city, not too far from the airport. The best things about the hotel were free the shuttle service to the waterfront, the rooms were comfortable and the gym which was small but well equipped. Also the hotel was just around the corner from the "hop on hop off" bus - by far the best way to get oriented in Cape Town. Nonetheless I would not stay here again, we did not like the fact that the air conditioning was switched on to maximum in the public areas and was by far too cold, the swimming pool was too small for a hotel of this size, it was full with three children in it! A bigger pool preferably outdoor is needed. I don't know whether it was the time of year but the staff appeared to be stressed and not really very polite. On the whole I felt this was a faceless hotel totally lacking in character but we did choose it for its predictability so in a way we got what we expected. I will not return to this hotel on my next visit to this fantastic city.

Room Tip: Go high and for a view of table mountain

We could only stay here a few days as fully booked due to its closeness to the convention centre. Really excellent location with a shuttle bus to the waterfront and also excellent service. The breakfast is really great (we also stayed at Cape Grace and the breakfast here was much better).

Beautiful spa, swimming pool and jacuzzi with amazing views, but book in advance for the treatments.

Very nice hotel with cosy spacious rooms and very friendly staff. We stayed in an executive room so we were able to take advantage of the executive lounge with great views over Cape Town.

If you're looking for a hotel in Cape Town this is the place to be!

Spent 3 nights at The Westin CT recently and had a lovely experience. The staff are very attentive from the moment you arrive and maintain the good service throughout. The rooms are stylish with fabulous bathrooms, and the breakfast is one of the best I have ever had.
The only downside is that the hotel is situated next to a busy motorway, which can be noisy.

Stayed for four nights. Service was impeccable and the attention to detail wonderfully refreshing. Nice selection of Cigars and Whiskies in the Cigar Bar and the view from the executive dining area is truly amazing. Usual Westin double shower heads as well as lots of space. Even the checkout at 03:30 was without hitch.

Room Tip: Higher Floors have a brilliant view. Make sure to request a view of the docks and not the convention...

Westin History
Westin Hotels & Resorts is considered one of the most innovative hotel brands in the industry. The interesting history of the brand began in 1930 when rival hoteliers S. W. Thurston and Frank Dupar united to create Western Hotels, later renamed Westin Hotels & Resorts. The inception of 24-hour room service and hotel credit cards was breakthrough in its time and began a series of notable firsts.
Acquired by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. in 1998, Westin flourished and introduced the first-ever signature bed. The 1999 launch of the now iconic Heavenly Bed® was a wake-up call to the hospitality industry. As the pioneer of the hotel retail trend, Westin continues to expand its highly successful efforts online, in hotels and in stores. Westin was the first hotel company to gain national retail store presence when Nordstrom began carrying its Heavenly® line in more than 60 stores nationwide. With a commitment to create a comfortable, health-promoting environment, Westin led the industry with its 2006 introduction of a smoke-free policy and was also the first to offer in-room spa treatments at all hotels worldwide.
Westin recognizes that travel often impacts a guest’s ability to maintain a healthy lifestyle and is committed to helping visitors preserve wellness in travel. Offering a suite of signature programs and experiences, the mission at Westin is to leave guests feeling better than when they arrived.

Overall hotel with rounded quality across all dimensions. Location is not that great, however shuttle/wlaking distance to V&A waterfront. More of a business hotel next to conference center. For business purposes or two days in Cape Town a fine location. For holiday I would recommend a place more outside (like Camps Bay) or really in downtown.

Stayed there 7 nights while traveling on business. Room was large and comfortable with all the amenities expected on 5 star hotel. Restaurant food was very good. Large buffet breakfast and the ion room dinner I had one evening was also, good at reasonable price. The exercise facility was well maintained with wonderful views. The hotel arrange a car service for me that I used through out the week. The drivers were punctual and courteous. Still, there is room for improvement. For some reason my room did not get serviced one day when I was out the entire day with no sign on the door. And while the staff was overall very efficient, a few of the wait staff during breakfast acted like they were mad at the world; perhaps they were but should be trained to leave grievances at the door.
