The Table Bay Hotel
Ranked #17 of 110 Hotels in Cape Town Central
Reviewed August 24, 2014

When traveling in South Africa for pleasure I make it a point to never stay in a hotel. The country's myriad of B&B and guest houses make it utterly pointless. However, there are a few hotels that are at least interesting to walk through, to have drinks, or are situated so conveniently that they can pull me away from the norm. The Table Bay is still best suited to business travel, and especially business travel for hosting others, but would probably do the average luxury or tourist traveller just fine. Their open spaces, convenient walking distance location to waterfront nightlife, and very attentive concierge service are all spot on. The standard rooms are very comfortable, and come equipped with the amenities normally reserved for more intimate establishments (private welcome note, fudges, bedtime chocolates, stocked bar, and quality toiletries). Their pool was out of order for maintenance when I stayed, and the gym was ridiculously small for the size of the hotel, but it was clean and well supplied with better than average hotel gym equipment. The breakfast was about average as far as business type hotels go. It appeared they were unable to meet the requirements of the number of guests staying - not in quantity of food, but in quality (everything hot was soggy, and all the fruits and cold items had been obviously prepared well in advance). The concierge was the star of the show. And the driver our group used, Ismael, for a half day wine tour at the drop of a hat, was so courteous, professional, and just beyond the value of what we paid, that he made the entire stay worthwhile. I will always consider the Table Bay for business trips, and as an alternative to a B&B if my places of preference are booked.

Room Tip: If you've got the money, stay on a higher floor. Level 2 ocean view may just be industrial roof...

We stayed at this magnificent hotel with a tour group. It has everything you need and more. The location is fabulous, the rooms are great and breakfast is absolute spectacular. We have eaten in many hotels, but there is an amazing array of food in the buffet! Oysters, salmon, Asian, Italian and everything else you can imagine! The staff were great at the restaurant too. We enjoyed being so close to the water and the views from. Our room were great. Also, bein so close to a shopping centre was very convenient for us.
Thank you for making our stay with you so enjoyable!

Room Tip: Most rooms seemed great.

Great location, attentive and resourceful staff, great food, well-appointed and spacious rooms. Security is not just an afterthought. This hotel takes security seriously. Definitely a return stay is in order. Remember to book excursions in advance, even in the winter months.

Let me say the hotel is absolutely excellent. The room, the environment, the service. Everything perfect. But! I booked a family room that was supposed (according to the hotel) to host my wife, my 2 kids (11 and 12 yo) and myself. The room we were given had a small, old sofa that could not host the kids. Simply a size issue. So I had to pay another room to host the kids. They should be clear on what they can offer before ... not after

Thank you Table Bay Hotel for such a lovely weekend. You sure made my wife's birthday a memorable one. The cake, flowers and champagne you arranged for free were amazing. The breakfast absolutely perfect. The best location in Cape Town indeed.

while this hotel is in an excelent position and the food and service is of the same standard this cannot be said of the bedroom we occupied. The room requires attention with the shower leaking ans you could not turn off the TV. Thanks for thick towels

This hotel is absolutely superb. Rooms had every amenity imaginable, breakfast was outstanding, service amazing, concierge and reception staff remembered our names throughout our five day stay......amazing.
Its proximity - linked to the Victoria and Albert Shopping centre - is as central as you could wish to be. Vistas from rooms are fantastic and there is a tremendous sense of everyone wanting to help as much as they can without being intrusive. Security isn't an issue as the area is safe and the hotel secure. This is a great place to stay in Cape Town and special offers can be found on various web sites linked to south africa,
