We felt at home from the moment we entered the hotel. Staff are very professional, polite and friendly. Our room on the ground floor was spacious and beautiful with a superb view on the harbour (yachts) and on Signal Hill. The bed was very comfortable. The only minor point ... the hotel charges an extra for WiFi. This should be complimentary and included in the room price. There was a minor problem with our dinner reservation but this was solved in a very professional way. The hotel management arranged something extra for our friends to celebrate their wedding anniversary. Le Signal, the hotel restaurant, is a splendid place for a special occasion : we enjoyed fantastic food and wines at an excellent price. The hotel is very well located, close to the V&A Waterfront. We will definitely come back next time we are in Cape Town.

This Hotel was of a very high standard, All the staff had all the time in the world for us , and couldn't do enough to make our stay more wonderful. The surroundings are just stunning, all done in true South African taste. If you wanted to visit, any attractions up to a 20 mile radius the hotel put on a chauffer driven car to take you free of charge, At this moment in time with the exchange rate as high as it is, everything is great value.

Room Tip: On the entrance side of the hotel your rooms face the working harbour, and at the rear of the hotel...

A very well positioned hotel, on the water front which offers a hub of activity and lots of decent eateries. If you're driving, cape grace offers a free underground car park which is very useful.

Very welcoming reception. Staff seem to have the nack of remembering your name from day one. The hotel is decorated in a beautiful classic style, both contemporary and also in keeping with traditions, there is even a brochure in the room which informs you about the interiors if you're interested!

Pros:
Great breakfasts (can be taken in room or in restaurant)
Friendly staff
Ideal location
Great views (we have balcony room on fourth floor with views of yacht marina and table mountain)
Definitely feels luxurious

Cons:
Not many but perhaps the swimming pool is slightly too small for a hotel of its size.

Room: 410.

I stayed with my family earlier this month, sadly this time for only one night, but it has lost none of it's charm since we were last there. Everything from the staff to the details in the rooms is excellent and the location is of course hard to beat!

Room Tip: As it does not have a view of the sea (but does of the harbour) then the rooms overlooking the yacht...

Stayed at the Cape Grace in November-December 2013. This was my first visit to South Africa and I was not certain what to expect. After picking the Cape Grace by virtue of TripAdvisor, I am very pleased at the result. The service and the property are very understated, and made everyone feel very welcome. There was not the air of arrogance that one sometimes sees in European and American fine hotels. From start to finish a very pleasant stay...

The Cape Grace Hotel located in the heart of the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town is a well-located and managed hotel. I stayed at the Cape Grace hotel after reading numerous positive reviews about it as well as it being labelled as the second best hotel in the world in the Travellers’ Choice Awards. I visited Cape Town for a week and stayed at the Mount Nelson & Ellerman House hotels before arriving at the Cape Grace. I have come out of the Cape Grace hotel with a couple of positives and multiple drawbacks.

Upon arrival and initial inspection of the hotel I found that the pool was majorly undersized and not adequate enough for such a large hotel. This point also has been mentioned in below reviews and I think it is in need of an upgrade. In addition to the pool, the fitness centre is quite small as well when compared to the Mount Nelson’s in Cape Town or any other five-star hotel. Cape Grace only has one restaurant, Signal, which is most definitely not enough for the proclaimed second best hotel in the world. Although there is a limit in restaurants within the hotel, the food served was reasonably high quality and the Christmas Dinner was exceptional.

The hotel rooms are on four floors and the views are quite mixed. If you are located one side of the hotel, which I was, you will face the working dock area of the harbour with the main entrance below, which is not entirely pleasant and quite loud. On the other side the views are set on the lovely harbour filled with yachts and an enticing backdrop view of Table Mountain. The rooms on level four and the ones at the far end of each floor below are the only with balcony’s. Again some have spacious balcony’s and others have rather cramped ones. The rooms are quite spacious, with a main bed, two chairs, a walk-in wardrobe for some (others not walk-in), a bathroom and vanity desk. It is sad to say that the mattresses are severely uncomfortable and hard to get a good nights sleep on.

I have stayed at numerous five-star hotels before including two others earlier mentioned (located in Cape Town) and this was the first time that I have ever had limited Wi-Fi. One room is limited to 300MB of data per room in 24 hours. I don’t see the need for this limit in data usage especially for the premium paid for the hotel. An alluring feature of the hotel is that if you need to be driven anywhere, i.e. a restaurant, you will be driven in a new BMW 7 series.

The convenience of this hotel is the high-point as it is a few minutes walk from The One&Only Hotel, the V&A Waterfront, Ferris Wheel and much more. The hotel is also only located twenty minutes from the international airport and is filled with exuberant staff who are overly polite and friendly. The concierge staff are very helpful with any enquiries regarding restaurants or attractions within Cape Town. In future I would stay at Pods Hotel located in Camps Bay or the One&Only hotel due to the excessive drawbacks of this hotel.

Room Tip: If possible try to get a room on the back side of the hotel as it offers alluring views of Table Mou...

We stayed four nights in Dec 2013 arriving from Pretoria on the Rovos rail from Pretoria before moving onto the Drakensberg Mountains, Fugutives Drift (Battlefields near Rorkes Drift) and Phinda Rock Lodge before finishing in Durban Oyster Box Hotel.

Cape Grace is in a great location on the Water Front, was sumptuous fantastic service great very spacious room with huge bathroom and great view. We had one of the rooms on the top floor which was a little larger.

Very nice intimate pool to relax also lovely bar to sit outside with great Tapas and enjoy Table Mountain.

Excellent Service and superb food we had the Tasting Menu in the main restaurant and with the flight of wines and with the great exchange rate it cost about GBP 100 it would have been at least 3 times more in London. But also the quality was fantastic and probably one of the best we have had and we have eaten at places like Le Manoir and the Waterside Inn.

The concierge were great and organised all our trips including a breathtaking helicopter ride over the Cape before flying to lunch in the Winelands.

Overall a fantastic stay thank you Cape Grace
