“A grand and Graceful Lady!”
Reviewed November 4, 2013

We stayed at the Cape Grace for four nights as a final wrap-up to a 24 day African adventure which covered four countries. What a delightful surprise she was to us. From the minute our driver dropped us at the front door, we were made to feel known and welcome - that is the epitome of hospitality & The Cape Grace makes hospitality the top priority on its list. Our rooms were spacious and reeked of a true Old World elegance that is often tried for in hotels these days but seldom achieved. This hotel is not pretentious but it has every right to be!
The location on Victoria and Albert waterfront makes it a "walking" hotel for most of the downtown area and walk we did - exploring the shops, malls and marketplaces as well as the lovely gardens of Cape Town. It is also the ideal jumping off place to visit Robben Island, the notorious place of incarceration for 18 of Nelson Mandela's prison years which is a moving experience and not to be missed when in Cape Town.
The dining rooms of the Grace are another special treat with all sorts of household objects in metal, crystal and copper hanging from the chandeliers throughout. I know that sounds like kitsch but it is totally charming and creates its own special ambience. Tea is served each day in the Library, accompanied by sherry and port. The latter two are also available for guests enjoyment before dinner.
Breakfast in the enclosed porch offers both menu selections as well as an abundant buffet overflowing with all sorts of delicious offerings. The pastries were fresh, warm and yummy. Dinner offerings are varied, delicious and served at the proper pace to enjoy one's dinner. On our final evening, we were catching a plane and thus had a a schedule to keep. We alerted the dining room manager and our waiter and they were totally accommodating. We are very happy that we made the acquaintance of this grand "Grace."

Room Tip: Take advantage of its superb location to see this lovely city. Ask for a room on the harbor. Our vie...

The Cape Grace has a reputation of excellence and our visit demonstated that it is well deserved. From check-in to check-out, the quality of gracious and attentive service was omnipresent.

We were on a family trip and booked a three room suite, which was perfect in every way. Breakfasts in the living room, drinks on our terrace and spacious and comfortable rooms made it a true celebration of family. The hotel cars to and from dinner were a gracious extra that made moving six of us around the city very easy.

If there was a negative, it was that the water pressure in two of the bathrooms was very poor and it took two days to get it fixed. A gracious, apologetic note from the General Manager with a refund of a bar bill was waiting for us on our return to the US and is symptomatic of the excellence that is the Cape Grace!!!

We stayed for 4 days at the Grace Hotel in September
One word to describe this hotel is DEVINE!
We where upgraded on arrival which was a lovely surprise
It was our wedding anniversary celebration and in our room they had a bottle of champagne on ice and chocolates.
Their attention to detail is excellent.
Breakfast is great too.
Unfortunately Table Mountain was closed due to windy weather during our stay. But their complimentary driver service took us up to as far up as possible to see the view over Cape Town. He was a great tour guide as well full of information and took photos of us up there.
We had a wonderful stay at the Cape Grace.

The hotel is located between the working harbour of Cape Town's bustling Victoria and Alfred Waterfront shopping venues. It is a fabulous hotel in a beautiful location, welcoming and friendly staff, helpful at every point of time, will be our home the next time in Cape Town.

Yes, it is very expensive, but then there are little things that helped out with costs: Huge delicious breakfast included, free limo service to nearby places, concierge suggestions for tours that were much better and cheaper than what we had, free port in the library for a nightcap. The excellent breakfast was included. It came with cereals, fruit, cheese and sausages, from the buffet. The warm foods are a la carte. Cappuccino-preparation can be done on table at request.

The rooms were about perfect. They are huge and beautifully decorated and no room is the same. The location is excellent for touring and walking to restaurants.

If you had this hotel once, you want it again or if Cape Town then Cape Grace

This hotel is truly a gem and in my modest opinion one of the greatest hotels in the whole world. I travel around the world, through the five continents, and haven't found this level of service and quality of hoteling anywhere else. The location, the view, the decor (Cape style), the food and above all, the personal service, are just fantastic.

The rooms are huge and beautifully decorated and no room is the same. They all have personal details: books, cd's, flower arrangements, every single detail is well thought beforehand. The restaurant is fantastic and the food magnificent. The bar and the whiskey cellar are fabulous as well. The spa is one of the best I have ever been at. The extra details such as the use of the BMW limo are things you will not find anywhere else.

I have always been there for business but truly wish I could come with my wife and kids! I visit every January and this is the one trip I will always look forward to.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with view over the marina...

We stayed 5 nights at the Cape Grace and were absolutely happy with it. The staff goes many of those extra miles that make you comfortable, they are all beyond friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacioius and well appointed, wonderfully comfortable beds, outstanding linen, spacious and light bathrooms etc. etc. etc.
We have never eaten at the Signal Restaurant, as the Cape Grace lies so centrally and in walking or short driving distance to all these great food places in CT. Breakfast is very good, altough it would be nice if there would be more tables outside on those beautiful CT days!
The hotel offers free transportation within a 10 miles radius, which is a wonderful service. However, it turns out that they have only 2 vehicles and they are mostly booked in the evenings, naturally. I would prefer to have more cars available - yet they don't need to be these fancy BMW 7...
All in all, the Cape Grace is the ideal place to stay in CT and I would not hesitate a second to come back here.
