“Street side dining for summer”
Reviewed March 27, 2013

Lovely pizzas & pastas, as well as specials like crayfish linguine, the wine by the glass was average but the warmth & hospitality of the owner and our waiter Michael was infectious. Great for a relaxed Summer evening out - will see how cosy it is in Winter.

“Simple but adequate; good atmosphere”
Reviewed March 23, 2013

Had a meal there on our latest Cape Town visit. We liked the place because of the atmosphere and the way it was done. Simple and not fancy at all, but you can sit outside and also a bit higher so you have more privacy and a good view. We had a nice salad as a starter, which tasted good and very good pizzas afterwards. Service was friendly and also the wine tasted good. Think we had good value for money and I would go there again if I would choose for italian food to see if their pastas are just as good

“Mitico”
Reviewed March 8, 2013

A jewel in the crown of the Mother City.

Unpretentious, consistently delicious Italian fare made with dollops of love and presented with panache. Booking is recommended as tables fill with eager diners Mondays to Saturdays. A good selection of wines and alcoholic tipples, and a reasonable corkage fee if you bring your own bottle. The pastas and pizzas are consistently delicious – prepared with light flour and blended with delicate seasonings and interesting toppings. Good salads and meat and fish dishes too.
Thursdays and Saturdays are special evenings at Mitico. Natasha is on the floor, dispensing her bounty of caring and heartfelt warmth as sprinkles her charm and wonderful sense of humour generously, moving from table to table, and attending to customers’ needs, sharing anecdotes, suggesting special dishes that may appeal. Her genuine kindness and grace is a warm glow that lingers well after the last sip of wine.

“wonderful family restaurant”
Reviewed February 10, 2013

What a great place, it makes you feel at home and comfortable while providing a slick service. The ambience and family owned appeal makes this a real Italian place worth a visit.

“Fantastic thin pizza crust but lacklustre decor and ambience”
Reviewed February 9, 2013

Do not sit upstairs unless you are cold. It is next to the wall of the pizza oven and thus uncomfortably warm.
The pizza and pasta were very tasty, although the haloumi salad was mediocre.
Sadly this pizzeria and spaghettaria is boring although our waiter was friendly and accommodating.
If you are looking for a vibe, avoid Mitico. If however, you are looking for a great pizza, you will not be disappointed.
Two other things that bothered me were the parking and the smell from the road.
Kloof Street is a very busy road and it is difficult to find any parking. Nonetheless, if you do and your chosen restaurant is full, there is a huge selection in the neighbourhood.
It had rained and as the sun came out, an unpleasant odour came in from the road. Hopefully that was a one off.
For our meal which also included two drinks the total was R277 excluding tip.
