“Work and play”
Reviewed April 30, 2013

I work in the immediate vicinity and I'm very glad that Intaka Island offers a variety of shopping, food and nature choices. Within a 5km radius you can canoe on the lake, shop galore, eat like a king or queen and then have wild rides on the Cobra. Five star entertainment all the way.

“Venice in Cape Town”
Reviewed March 28, 2013

we did the canal ride from the Intake Island information office. what a friendly tour guide............ it was like i was back in Venice at a fraction of the price. a great experience, another (almost for free) must do in Cape Town. the biggest plus of cause is the conservation they do.

“Scenic and green respite from urban living”
Reviewed November 19, 2012

Lovely scenery and birdlife. Accessible pathways that is an easy walk for even the aged with lots of rest places to have a small picnic. It should NOT be measured against reserves and conservation areas that you drive a long distance to COMPLETELY escape city living, since it will invariably fall short and it would mean holding it up to an impossible and irrelevant standard. As an urban greenspace AND wetland it is quite stunning and accessible. Herein is its true value and purpose. While I would not include it necessarily as a "must do" for tourists I think it is invaluable for residents.

“A quiet jewel in the busy city”
Reviewed September 26, 2012

Intaka is a jewel of tranquility in the bustling Century City. The bird sanctuary is very well cared for by the friendly staff. The annual entrance fees are a real bargain.

A birder and photographer's dream...

“Intaka Island”
Reviewed September 7, 2012

This is a little gem in the middle of the city with 212 different indigenous plants and 120 bird species. This wetland reserve and bird sanctuary is situated in the heart of Century City. If you do not want to walk the shopping mall with your family and/or friends take the ferry to the Island and relax.
