Scalabrini Guest House

We really appreciate Tara and Nathalie and all of the wonderful people who made our stay great. This was an ideal place for us. The bed was comfortable, the room clean and there is a nice kitchen for cooking and storing food. We felt generally safe in this neighborhood within a short walk to Long Street and Company's Gardens. We were cautioned about walking at night alone though there is a huge security company next door and those helpful guys are always around. We felt great about their mission of support and creating opportunity for people affected by migration and actually made an additional donation to them. The rate is quite reasonable for the quality of the accomodation.

Room Tip: Some rooms have larger windows with better ventilation. Ask for one with larger windows. Do not ch...

I have just spent three days at the Scalabrini Guest House, and I can recommend this place whole-heartedly. The rooms are spacious enough and very clean with a well appointed en-suite bathroom. The kitchen facilities for making your own breakfast are very good too, and the location right in the centre of Cape Town is unbeatable. You can walk to all the major sights and museums as well as to Long Street where much of the nightlife of City Bowl is taking place. So you get good accommodation at a very reasonable price, and on top of this you are supporting a good cause, since all the proceeds of the Guest House are used to sustain the numerous social projects of the Scalabrini Centre. A great place indeed !!!

We stayed at Scalabrini guest house for 3 nights. The rooms are nice, clean, the kitchen is well equiped and a great place to meet other people. The staff was very friendly. We can recommend the place to everybody looking for a quite room in central Cape Town - especially as all the profits are supporting the great projects of the Scalabrini Center!

I stayed in Scalabrini Guest House for 5 nights and thought it was an excellent choice. Scalabrini is located a stone's throw from Company's Garden, the Parliament, District Six museum and a short walk to Long street. The rooms are modest, but clean, with en suite facilities. There is also a kitchen where you can make coffee and tea, there is a TV. The quality-value relationship is excellent!

Tara, Nathalie and Yvette who manage the guest house are ever so friendly and will make sure you're oriented in the city, organise taxis to and from the airport and find organised excursions for you to take so that you discover Cape Town and the surrounding area.

Scalabrini is set up as an NGO working with immigrant communities. If you're also interested in the local challenges Cape Town faces and want to contribute to socially responsible projects, then this association is a must! The proceeds of your stay in the Guest House will contribute to the association's projects.

We have recently stayed 8 nights in this guesthouse and felt very much at home. The room was very clean, simple but comfortable with good bathroom facilities. Good value for a stay in the centre of Cape Town, visiting all the DO's nearby (Table Mountain, museums, Long Street, Green Market Square etc.) We walked many times up and down to the Waterfront (aprox. 40 min. walk), but a taxi service is available just by phoning with the help of the inhouse telephone especially in the evening or quieter moments of this area.
The staff, especially Yvette and Tara were very helpful at all times, and offered an excellent service always with a smile.
Big and clean kitchen, with all kind of facilities if you want to cook or store any food or drinks.
We certainly would come back and by staying here you also support this great project !

We stayed at the Scalabrini Guest House for two nights and enjoyed it a lot! The Guest House is located in a quiet street in the city centre of Cape Town and therefore ideally situated, it takes about five minutes to walk to Company Gardens and 10-15 minutes to Long Street. The rooms are simple, purposeful and very clean including a big and modern en-suite bathroom. We didn't use the kitchen but it looks modern and well equipped as well. The Scalabrini Guest House Team is wonderful - very friendly and helpful!

I stayed at Scalabrini Guest house for ten days in January 2012. It was wonderful. The accommodations are beautiful. Great bathroom (which always tell you a bit about the place!), nice rooms, simple, beautiful windows, clean, all around great. The staff are wonderful, the place is laid back, efficient, organized, etc. Nice kitchen too. I had read the reviews below and requested a fan, which is needed in the summer, although there is also a nice breeze from the windows. The guest house supports a non-profit resource center for refugees, so you can also feel good that your money is going to a support a good cause. It's in a great location to walk to the center, long street, the gardens, etc. Definitely recommended!
