“The place to be, the place to eat”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 15, 2013

Perfect conjunction between the place ( wonderful view) not pretentious, and the perfect food. I don t know why the people say that is a French cuisine. It s completely false and certainly too restrictive fit the high level of the cuisine there. The chef is creative ( really more than in France) use the local product and offer to you the local flavour. You are really far from the classic standard. All the dinner was amazing. The service is perfect , really perfect. You are really there in one of the best of cape town and maybe from the area. In Belgium it would be certainly a 2 or 3 stars Michelin. The addition is really a good deal

“A Set Menu Dining Experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 14, 2013

The Roundhouse is an old but well presented restaurant we arrived in the dark so did not see the view properly or have an aperitif in the garden. If you like set menus and tasting menus with or without wine pairings you will enjoy it. The food was excellent and tasty - portions were tasting size and although small we were well satisfied. The 4 course menu has 4 options for each course which is fine if one isn't allergic to seafood as 1 course is entirely fish - don't let the maître d try to palm you off with another starter alternative insist on 2 meat dishes. The service was a good although the drinks order was initially incorrectly delivered. The service was rather slow but this enhanced the experience - it took us nearly 4 hours to have the meal.I felt that the staff were a little smug. From a local perspective the menu was very expensive at R600 a head and the drinks were 20% more than the other good restaurants we went to in Cape Town. The plating up of the food was over designed - one sweet was particularly amusing. The pre dinner apertisers and the after dinner treats were generous. All in all we all enjoyed the experience but I wouldn't repeat it as I don't like set menus and prefer a la carte dining which even at top restaurants would not be this expensive.

“Wonderful view”

This is a great place for a drink, especially during the day or to enjoy the sunset. The food is average or below. Service is good, toilets are clean.

“Food and Drink..........”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 2, 2013

Food and Drink and more - The aperitif we took outside in the garden and enjoyed the beautiful evening with the beautiful view. The following food was very good and the service was great. The Vienna Card is very extensive, the prices unfortunately be too high for my taste. Too bad.......

“Spectacular dining & views!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 1, 2013

I enjoyed the six-course tasting menu. The portions were modest, so it wasn't overly filling. Each course was a work of art. The view of the sunset, mountains and ocean were amazing from a restaurant that was beautiful itself.
