Have dined there before and will dine again. Impressive service with quiet, meticulous and well trained staff offering a relaxed dining experience in a nice restaurant. Menu has many novel twists to traditional dishes. Wife had lamb shank melt in the mouth perfection and I had chicken masala well spiced and nice portion sizes. These guys try hard with welcoming hostess, knowledgable waitron and attentive but not overly fussy service as the meal progressed. Booking ahead recommended. It's certainly worthy of being in the top 10 places to eat in Cape Town. Hotel bar and post meal atmosphere very good too.

We went on Sunday before the mining Indaba in Cape Town took place so the restaurant was full of South African prominence and we were very lucky to get a table so last minute.

The customer service is excellent the staff are very professional and considerate.

We ordered one of the tasting menus, I really enjoyed my soup entree with believe it or not popcorn (was delicious!), the chicken, lamb and lentil curry was very good too and the grilled, spicy prawns were amazing.

If we are ever in that part of Cape Town and feel like Indian food we will definitely return!

We tried a number of "top" restaurants in Cape Town, but nothing came close to Bombay Brasserie. Spectacular setting, flawless service, and a quality of Indian food I have never before experienced. A very wide choice of items that would keep me coming back over and over again if I were to spend more time in the city.

Opulence Magnificent and Genius***********

The Bombay Brasserie Cape Town , attatched to the Taj Hotel , is one of those experiences not to be missed . As with most people we couldnt afford to stay at the Taj (4000 RAND MINIMUM ) but we could afford a meal in their Brasserie. Expensive by South African standards , the falling rand made it an attractive experience.
From the moment you walk into the restaurant you are dazzled by shimering chandelers , candeles flickering in the low lit auditorium , coupled with the best service I think I have ever experienced and a menue that is pure genius this was the place for me.
The food was exquisit , with Karoo Lamb so tender it melted in the mouth releasing subtle but intrestingly , a spicy tang. Unable to tell you more , because you will find surprises in store.

A very enjoyable evening all for about 80 Dollars 80 Francs or 70 pounds , not bad for OMG

After reading the impressive reviews of Bombay Brasserie, located in the Taj Hotel Cape Town, we visited it for dinner and sampled the 6-course vegetarian tasting menu. It lived up to our expectations and was the most enjoyable meal of our holiday!

- Platter of assorted (and colourful) papadums and crisps, along with vegetable crudités served with a tangy tomato chutney. Mint and yoghurt chutney, as well as tamarind chutney were available on request.
- Gol Gappa amouse bouche - a crispy shell filled with spiced potatoes, yoghurt and a piquant tamarind chutney
- Tandoori platter with tandoori cauliflower, paneer (cottage cheese), truffle mushrooms and broccoli. The paneer melted in the mouth, and the all the other elements of the dish were flavourful
- Guava sorbet palate cleanser, served in the prettiest perforated bowl with dry-ice rising from the holes.
- Paneer Tava Masala with Jalepenos - the paneer was tender, moist and well-flavoured
- Paneer Dumplings in a pea curry - this was probably the most prosaic and 'common' of all the dishes, tasting largely like the same curry would in most Indian households.
- Gulaab Jamuns with ice cream - delicious, and a definite winner with the children.

The service was impeccable, and they were most tolerant of having children dine at the restaurant. A male chef stopped by the table to ensure that we were satisfied with our meal, and we were more than happy to give him our compliments on a well-prepared and enjoyable meal. Booking in advance is recommended to avoid disappointment!
