“Stunning venue in not so great location”
Reviewed January 25, 2013 via mobile

Great hotel but not so great immediate surroundings. Decided not to eat at the Sinatra hotel restaurant as it was a basic Italian menu. We walked down Long Street (it was a Friday evening) and found nothing appealing for a 40 something couple looking for a dinning experience to match the hotel. Such a pity! We took a complementary shuttle to to Pepper Club Restaurant in Camps Bay for a change of location. Amazing concierge service and a very polite and helpful shuttle driver. Stunning bar service and simply sublime champagne by the glass at the Pepper Club hotel bar. Beautiful rooms (we were on the 14th floor) with great city views. As Capetonians, we loved this hotel. Suggestion: Cayenne spa must open till 9pm as this is a great place to stay for a weekend. Arrive at 6 and enjoy a spa experience. Otherwise, will DEFINITELY be back!

located in the center of Cape Town, you just have to walk out and you are on the main street of the city. They work together with a taxi company that takes you everywhere and picks you up when your done. Ask for Zaid.

Stayed for 5 nights in November 2012. Rooms are decent size, modern and well equipped. Staff all very helpful. Buffet Breakfast was included and was generally very good with plenty of choice. Limited evening menu in the restaurant so if staying more that 4 nights might pay to eat out.
The swimming pool was disappointing as was small and the water FREEZING. Nice view of Table mountain from poolside.

Room Tip: The hotel operates a free mini bus to their restaurant at Camps Bay beach (Pepperclub on the beach...

This property was our first stop in a 2-week, 3-country trip to Africa in November 2012. We arrived well before "official" check-in, but the property had been aware that would be the case as we were on a tour they partner with regularly. It took 3+ hours from when we got to the hotel to get us into our room. Unfortunately, no one explained it would take that long when we arrived so we stayed in the lobby (after our 20+ hour travel day getting there) and kept checking with no firm updates. Additionally, it was not until the last hour that they finally offered some drinks or food (we had already got our own by that point). I will say, once we got in the room, it was worth the wait as we ended up in what I'd call a one-bedroom apartment (I think the room number was 1001), complete with separate bedroom, living and kitchen area, and two-sided balcony. While on property we ate breakfast every morning which includes full continental, plus to-order items if you request (they don't always offer, but will make pretty much any breakfast item you'd like); had massages (they have a couples' room so we could be together); and tried the sauna/pool. The pool is beautifully located on the roof, but not heated and as we had some wind and rain while there, so even on the nice days it was not warm enough to enjoy.
The only downsides to this property, other than our issue at check-in, is it borders a bar/nightlife area and therefore a bit seedy after dark, and the "free shuttle" to their beach club or the harbor seems to run inconsistently and get overbooked when busy, so wait times and scheduled times aren't always accurate or honored. The lobby area is also not very large, and they like tour groups, so can be challenging if trying to maneuver through or use lobby seating/bar/concierge areas.

Thank you for taking the time to review the Pepperclub hotel and Spa on TripAdvisor. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

We are pleased to note that you thought so highly of our rooms and that you managed to have a relaxing massage in our couple’s room at the Cayenne Spa. Always a treat!

Our deepest apologies about the extended wait on your arrival and the lack of communicate on the length of the wait. With November being one of the busiest times in the Hotel, it is often difficult to accommodate ‘early check-ins’ or estimate the time when one’s room will be ready. Never-the-less, you should have been advised on the lengthy wait on arrival. Rest assured that we have informed our front of house staff to in future communicate this to guests to avoid guest frustration.

You will be happy to hear that our concierge is no longer outsourced and all shuttles to and from Pepperclub on the Beach and V&A Waterfront are consistent and have been running as per the schedule.

We look forward to welcoming you back on your next visit to Cape Town, South Africa.

Well to start I tried to call to book a room at 8pm but they don't take reservations past 5:30?? That was after two attempts to book from there web site. I did leave a message which they answered and called back in the AM. Seems to be a converted apartment building. No one greatest us at the door that's not 5 star. I had to ask someone to help with my bags. The restaurant Sanatra's was surprisingly good. The wait staff was typically South African. There are no waist bins in bathrooms. The coffee machine out smarted me first time ever. The Loop Bar below kept me awake till 3AM. Don't get a street side view room. The in Room dinning menu is not up to 5 star criteria either. The kids wanted to watch a movie in there theatre until the movie froze up. Nice try just not good enough.

Stayed at the Pepper Club for 16 days during a business stay. The rooms are spacy and very comfortable but be prepared for a bass beat going on all night if you are facing Long street and Pepper Street.
See if you can get a room above 9th. floor and facing Loop st. Great afternoon sun and great view.

They have this lovely care for the environment system meaning you will have to put your towel in the tub and put a slip on the bed if change of linen BUT they changed everything every day even you made the effort to think about what needed to be refreshed.

Very inconsistance service/cleaning in general, But breakfast very consistance - same eggs, wet bacon every day

Room Tip: Above 9th floor facing Loop street

Finally got round to writing this review, we stayed at the Pepper Club last September 2012. It is a really lovely hotel, the room was great everything you could wish for. The staff were friendly and helpful.

I would recommend going through your travel agent though for booking trips as it works out much cheaper. We had a day trip out to Hermanus which was a day never to forget. My husband and I sat in this amazing eatery, 'Coffee on the Rocks' having toasted sandwiches and Sauvignon watching whales, you have to go if you stay in SA.

We ate several evenings in the hotal restauruant as the food was of an excellent standard and very reasonable. Breakfast was also very good everything you could wish for and more!

Luckily we were the right side of the hotel away from the nightclub, we met some others who had not slept at all with the loud music, I can't understand how that got through planning permission as it is so close!

I would also liked to have had a swim in the outdoor pool, but it wasn't heated and it was just to cold :-((

Room Tip: away from the side opposite the nightclub!
