I have been to many cities around the world and this is definitely the best hop on hop off bus in the world. The price is reasonable and it take you everywhere in Cape Town and some places in the peninsula. All the main destinations are covered. Take the two day pass. It will allow you to take the red and the blue line, covering every spot of the city. It even takes you to a wine tasting in one of the oldest wine producers in the world (Groot Contantia). I highly recommend it!!!

Great value for a day trip, but watch out for the sun if you are on the upper deck! Lots of stopping, hop on, hop off places so really worth a ride on your first visit to town.

Use this hop on / hop off bus not only to get a wide spread view of the city and metropolitan area, with a narrated tour (by earphones, so not annoying) - but also for transportation for many places too far to walk to - from Table Mountain, to Kirstenbosch - the National Botanical Gardens - to seaside towns and beaches along the Altlantic Ocean.

Do this before anything else! You get a great overview of the city, including a ride up to table mountain cable car. We took a taxi up without realising and it cost us more than the whole day bus tickets which allowed us to learn about the city and jump off when we wanted. So a bargain really and informative to boot.

Your city tour will take you amongst other things to the Dutch East India company gardens, the Castle of Good Hope, oldest European building still standing in SA. Past the S A parliament and numerous historical buildings. The city is vibrant and has many stories to tell. The district six museum is a poignant reminder of the "forced removal of people" out of the centre of Cape Town. The most colourful and vibrant and not to be missed area is the Malay Quarter. Walk the cobblestone streets, marvel at the brightly painted little cottages, smell the aroma of curry being prepared!! This is an area with a history as old as South Africa. It is the area given to the Malaysian and Indonesian slaves after slavery was abolished in SA in 1834. You can buy the best samoosa from Rose's corner cafe or take a cooking lesson at one of the Malay ladies homes! Great fun!
You should end your visit at the fabulous V&A waterfront where you could also book a ticket to visit Robben Island. The prison where former president Nelson Mandela spent 18 years in prison. The piece de resistance is a visit to the diamond museum, not only will you learn a lot but the showroom id "to die for" need I say more. The city tour is great fun and very informative.
