“Fine Dining w/Relaxed Vibe”
Reviewed October 28, 2012

Dinner here was wonderful -- our host Lassen was warm, thoughtful and informative; our waiter conscientious and efficient. No commanding by another was needed. There is a board with the nightly specials, but all of the dishes were a wonderful melding of flavors. The swordfish and veal were savory works of art; the desserts...well the word "heavenly" is but a mild, unworthy description. Just go...but you must book ahead.

“Fun, energetic vibe”
Reviewed October 27, 2012 via mobile

The food and service shine at this out-of-the way bistro in an office building. Our server was a tall energetic bald man who knew exactly how to command the service. One of the best meals we had during our trip to Cape Town.

There is a printed menu of a few items - but don't be fooled. The real menu is hand-written on a large board and it's (obviously) customized to the day.

The funniest part of the night was seeing my name misspelled but phonetically correct on a piece of paper near the door (for the reservation).

Well done to everyone at Bizerca!

“Not A vegetarian haven”
Reviewed October 22, 2012

Bizerca has moved to Heritage Square - we were surprised to see the menu is not at all vegetarian friendly and very heavy on red meat options- one fish dish and no chicken options. Service was medium and the food (once we had found an acceptable vegetarian option - not on the menu) was good - great dressings on the salads and wonderful Kingklip (is this SASSI friendly????)

“International quality bistro with local prices”
Reviewed October 22, 2012

We had a quick, light lunch at the new venue (98 Shortmarket Street) and only had main courses (unfortunately). I wanted the 'fishcakes with jalapeno and citrus dressed tomato salad topped with prawns ' starter as a main and was readily accommodated with a larger portion. Wow, the subtlety of that delicious dressing, the lightness of the salmon fishcakes - I really wanted to lick my plate! There were limited options for the vegetarian at the table but our charming maitre d' readily offered something that differed slightly from what was on the menu. She too was very happy with her meal. The carnivore was well pleased with his Chicken 'Coq au vin style' pie with Caesar salad. The venue gets a little noisier when it is full but we liked the vibe enormously and could easily chat. Outstanding service with charm, deeeelicious food, convenient venue with plenty of parking in the square opposite. Super, will definitely return when we visit Cape Town again. Booking essential.

“Big promises, not quite fulfilled”
Reviewed October 11, 2012

No doubt that the food is inovative, and very well prepared. But not neccesarily customer friendly, in the sense that it was all about technique, and less about satisfaction. Service was professional, but hardly warm. The acoustics were horrendous, making conversation very difficult once the place filled up. Been there, done that, but once was enough.
