A chilly winter night but nice & warm inside with the fire. The climate demanded some serious food, we had marrow & snails as starters then lamb shanks & ham hock for mains. All dishes were delicious & generous portions. We left well-fueled. Good service, knowledgeable, friendly, attentive. Reasonable prices.

A long standing favorite I have never had a bad meal there and they have an eclectic but good daily wine special selection. Prefer having dinner rather than lunch there due to atmospheric evening ambiance..

This place was an easy walk from our guesthouse and our tour guide recommend it but I guess we caught the staff on an off night. The atmosphere in the main dining room is nice but we were seated right outside the kitchen which was loud and the female chef had sporadic yelling fits which was awkward to say the least. Given that we were in the back of the resturant the service was slow and it was a challenge to get a hold of our waitress. The food was average but the prices were affordable so the evening wasn't a total loss.

We went here after other family recommended them and we enjoyed it. I had risotto and it was delicious. My husband had pepper steak and Caesar salad and was also happy. Lemon tart for dessert was the best we've ever had. Service and atmosphere were great too. Will done here again when in Cape Town.

Six of us went there on a Saturday evening, started off we had to phone them as we were running late, that wasn't a problem as it was only half an hour. First time any of us had been there, a log fire was burning in the room we were in, the restaurant seems to be various small areas with a few table in each. The starters dishes didn't appeal to any of us so we went straight to main course. 3 had steak, all very good with veg, sauce and real chips. Lamb shank passed the test as did the pork neck, all served together and piping hot. Desserts were good too. Service was attentive without being annoying, I think our waiter was Daniel. Toilets were clean and unisex which was an unusual feature but all quite separate. We had a great relaxed evening with good food and good friends. Would recommend except for the starters which were a bit to summery for a winter evening.
