We were recommneded to try this restaurant by our B&B hosts, as a special place for our final supper in Cape Town - after a wonderful holiday full of incredible experineces and amazing meals, we were so bitterly disappointed with this choice.
It was incredibly busy and they did accommodate us earlier than we had originally booked. It is obviously a very chic place at the moment - lots of beautiful people around - perhaps we were just not beautiful enough! It was the first menu we had seen during our stay, which was on a par with UK prices and we felt the whole place was somewhat pretentious. Pleasant atmosphere in a converted old house, but not supported by good staff or food!
The waiter was busy and inattentive. When the food eventually came, my large pile of prawns was over-cooked and completely tasteless. No-one came round to check we were happy with our meal and when the waiter eventually came to clear, I had left most of my meal and told him that it was not pleasant. He promised to send manager - never saw him/her. We were never offered desert or coffee, so we decided just to leave. A taxi was supposedly ordered which did not materialise, so another had to be ordered, resulting in a very long wait.
We were not charged for the inedible prawns, which was positive, but it would have been preferable if someone had had the courtesy to discuss this with us. Very disappointing culinary end to our wonderful South African adventure!
