I went to Asoka with group of colleagues whilst staying at the mount Nelson (walking distance).
this place was recommended from local friends and the hotel concierge.
Both absolutely spot on!
Ambiance is very nice sophisticated Asian fusion but not too intimidating,
the bar area is quite nice and an outside area is available as well.
We got seated in side and we had an amazing dinner, between us we tried quite many dishes and all of us was quite happy with the quality.
After a certain time the music background got gradually louder (in a nice way) until the whole place was transformed into a club with very nice deep house music.
Crowd was great as well, good job at the door.
All in all a brilliant night in Cape Town and i will recommend this place to anyone visiting cape town.

We were there essentially for the craft beer, but then settled down for a quick bite of Tandoori Chicken to test whether it was anything like the ones made back home. The result, probably better than most places in India. Cooked to perfection the meat was soft and smelt divine…masala was just like it would have been in India.

Loved it and will be back for more.

We got there in a group of 8 work colleagues and straight away we got a table. The place has a great atmosphere, excellent food and beautiful stuff. The food was simple the best I had in Cape Town this time, no doubts - and really good wine as well.
They have a house DJ throughout the evening and night, and after dinner people rock on dancing and enjoying the music and the good vibe.

We visited this restaurant as a group recently, having been recommended it by others. We were seated straight away, and immediately impressed by the decor and atmosphere. We had 3 courses I couldn't fault any of them. The wine was lovely too. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Cape Town.

CONS: even when planning an event ahead of time - be warned that reserved seating/a few other details previously agreed on my not necessarily be booked/done on the night. i got the distinct impression that hens/bachelor party groups take automatic preference on any given night = poor management = more interest in filling up the restaurant to capacity rather than servicing existing patrons.

PROS: snack platters are a definate value for money and the dessert platter options were a win, especially the creme brule. atmosphere gets better as the night progresses. good selection of cocktails.

NOTE: no commercial/sing-a-long music --> only dance/funcky house music
