“Best martinis in Cape Town”
Reviewed December 30, 2012

Great vibe, excellent Asian fusion tapas - and I mean really delicious, and the best martini's ever. The Passion Fruit Martini is incredible, and the ginger and pine and various others on the menu are also wonderful.

“Pathetic excuse for bland curry”
Reviewed December 12, 2012

I have always loved the ambience and feel of Asoka. Previous visits have yielded good food, but one bad experience is enough to keep me away.

The rosemary potatoes were actually almost fritters with an overdose of garlic and the vegetable green curry was simply boiled vegetables with coconut milk! It was a Monday evening and the excuse was that it was the chef's day off! If that is the case then simply shut the restaurant than deceive customers. We were not looking for a free meal by complaining but were made to feel that our complaint was unreasonable.

“More of a restaurant than a bar - but relaxed with a nice vibe”
Reviewed November 27, 2012

Called in her for early evening drinks on the recommendation of friends. Immediately offered a menu and got the impression than just stopping for drinks was not encouraged. Had a seat at the bar and ordered cocktails. Pretty much run of the mill in terms of choice, but great to see the staff were willing to try new cocktails. Ordered tapas as the food looked so good and were blown away by the salt & pepper prawns and tuna carpacio - delicious. Quite a way off the beaten track but worth tracking down. Good music, nice group of people and a very chilled out start to the evening

“Popular late night spot”
Reviewed November 20, 2012

I've never been to Asoka when it hasn't been packed with gorgeous people. This is where to go if you want to be seen. The bar staff look smart and are effecient. Try a porn star martini :)
