There were six of us and we shared the set menu which they made up two of them for three each. It included the starter, the main course with seven different dishes, the dessert course and tea or coffee. I am a wimp and they were able to accommodate my not wanting spicy hot dishes. I think my favorite was the lamb.

We went to Lucy's for lunch one day while walking along Long Street - more out of curiosity to taste what Ethiopian food would taste like.
Once we had ordered, under the expert and humorous guidance of the waiter/barman, he helped us wash our hands at table in traditional style.
Already placed on the table was what looked like a wicker 'Tajine' shaped basket....which on closer inspection had a circular glass pane within. That intrigued us even more. But our curiosity was short lived when the food arrived. The lid was taken off the wicker tray - and an enamel serving platter placed on it, covered with what looked like a paper sheet! The two dishes we'd ordered were placed on this 'paper', and expertly overturned. Next came a smaller basket of what looked like rolled up napkins. Seeing our puzzlement the waiter explained with a broad grin that what we thought was the paper on the serving tray was an Ethiopian flat bread - Injera - made of rice, and the rolled up 'napkins' were also Injera made of rice (white) and Sorghum (dark). They looked exactly like Indian dosas/Aapams - and so, like the good Indians we are, we knew how to tuck in!
We had ordered a pumpkin dish, and a lamb dish...both very tasty, and totally of new flavours to our palates. Eating with our hands was no novelty to us and we had soon polished off as much as we could! which wasn't even half the amount of flatbread served to us.
I then ordered Ethiopian coffee - which was served as ceremoniously any cha-nu ceremony anywhere. A salver with the coffee pot, the Kawah cup etc. were accompanied with a charcoal ember on which some Loban - Gum Benzoin I think - whose heady fragrance was familiar as well.
A lovely meal, beautifully presented and tasty to boot! where could you possibly go wrong!
